To nix any confusion, he shed. :P
He shed and his hunger strike is over! He ate for us for the first time and really seemed to enjoy his Reptilinks. We figured he would since Hognoses love their frogs and toads and the frog links were a good deal. Highly recommend!

Oh man. These guys stay tiny, I promise. Especially the males. Our boy here will probably only get to be about 2 feet long, or less. We don't want to get a snake that's going to get too big, either. Especially with our cats and the other animals we'd like to have in the future. :)
Reptilinks are also much easier to feed than "whole" mice, but still contain the entire animal in a convenient sausage casing. They also offer a variety of protein, including frog, which isn't as easy to come by. You can also feed them to lizards, they have some with a veggie and insect blend, which is really nice.

I'll have to look into it. I have one gecko, but I don't think he's all too happy after his tank buddy, Kitty, passed away mysterious.
2 feet isn't than bad for a snake. I know pythons can get huge.
A mouse-sausage, I wouldn't have thought of that. Sound easier than holding out a whole mouse.
Sounds like they're really easy keepers, that's for sure now a days.

Aww, poor guy. :( We're fond of geckos but my wife is really set on getting a blue tongued skink at some point, so I have a feeling that will be our first lizard. There are some wonderful Facebook groups available now for specific types of snake. If you want to research it and ask questions it is a great way to start. That's how we settled for sure on a western hognose. :)
