It's been a while since I've taken to the night skies in a quiet place. I visited a peaceful cemetery I'd found a short while back to complete a set from last year. Barking dogs make this a difficult place to shoot, regardless of how quiet you slip in.
This is where I parked. I stepped out of the car, setup a shot, and was happy. Good start to the night!

Absolutely. If you want to shoot long exposures at night, I recommend Fujichrome T64 film. It's tungsten balanced, which gives you the nice blue hue that keeps a long night shot looking like it was.. well, taken at night (otherwise, it'll just look like a daylight shot.)
It does suffer from reciprocity failure (which means the longer your shot is exposed to light, the less sensitive the film becomes during the exposure) right around 2 minutes, so you should bracket like crazy until you're used to it. Expect your first roll or two to be pretty failboat. And good luck!
