A character concept sketch for a story idea that's best described as an alternate or speculative history. The characters are genetically modified equines fighting a war that's lasted for nearly a century, extended and prolonged by a Confederate victory at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The war at the time of these characters is played out as entertainment for the human population of both sides, though the battles are very real and very deadly to the horse soldiers. Battle plans are actually carefully planned scripts by a mixed committee of politicians, remaining top military officials, and entertainment executives. The horse soldiers are unaware of all of this planning and many don't question their "orders" but many of the soldiers are more intelligent than their handlers realize and are beginning to suspect the truth.

No. Even if they were inclined to do so, they don't conquer areas. Their battlegrounds are land set aside specifically for them to fight in. If they do fight in an urban environment, then it's specially constructed as a set just as any movie or television show might use, though the horse solders don't know that.
