I created a species, you can read about them above/ on the front page of the download file.

That's odd. I've had a few people download it without a problem and I tried it myself. It might be something with the computer. I would make it a lineart/ PNG file instead of a PSD but it's got a lot of options that would be deleted if I did just the lineart. I'm not sure why it's giving you a message like that :/
