Hmmm...that gives me an idea...
Maybe the recruits get their first assignment following their orientation hike, they each get split into teams of two and are instructed to map out all the soft spots in an area riddled with mud bogs. Re-creating the illustrations in the Mud Scout manual would be a good start :)
