Before Buck went pro, he played for Lapine State, where he dominated his conference. But one of the toughest teams he faced was Underwood College and their brilliant guard/forward combo of Marko and Sanford. The raccoon pair were childhood friends who had perfected their game in the dense forests of the East Coast, where their quick wits and perfect teamwork always forced a tight game.
In a classic play, Marko sets a tough screen, giving Sanford the space he needs to rush the paint for the easy layup.
Marko and Sanford are characters created by the wonderfully talented

Part of being an excellent defender is reading your opponents. B-Hop can usually read the opposing team's calls and use that to pressure the ballhandler and force a contested shot.
I figure Marko and Sanford have played together for so long, they don't need to make calls to each other anymore. They just know what the other is going to do-- which makes it much harder for Buck to read their game! If the coons go into the FBA draft, no doubt coaches will do whatever trades and deals they need to keep the pair together!

Heh, nice! They have a backstory and everything! That's so cool! ^^
You're kinda inspiring me to create a whole furry basketball league, drawing all the characters, giving them stats, backgrounds, playing styles, etc. It would be the 3rd (I think) league of teams I made from scratch in my life... one of them being 4 teams composed of all my cats as anthros (before I had ever heard of 'furry') with their own numbers, strengths, weaknesses, and shot styles. Yes I had a lot of cats and free time as a child. ;)
It's a lot of fun making up players and developing their personalities and styles. Looks like you have fun with it too. ^__^

I do have a lot of fun making up furry ballers! I have a whole team including bench players made up for the Thrust, but I find it more fun to draw other people's characters and find ways to fold them into the FBA, or in the case of this picture, into the furry equivalent of NCAA basketball.

christophorac, not myself. They're taken from this wonderful picture he drew. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1561215/
He was kind enough to let me use his characters in this drawing. The backstory just sort of formed naturally out of the image once I had it drawn. I needed to come up with a school for the raccoons to come from, and a coworker of mine-- not a furry-- suggested the name "Underwood College". But the best inspiration always comes from many sources.
