When firing a bow, you want to keep the string on the inside of your body (right side of you left arm, left side of your right arm) so the string would be going underneath his left arm, unless of course he's going for the bad-ass approach of firing it out in front cross-bow style, in which case the way he is holding it would be just fine. It's just really hard to aim that way, i've tried lol XD
Oh, and additionally its a little vague how he's holding the arrow/string, but that's just me being over analytical X. (im an archer could you tell?)
