J doesn't like visiting magic shops like this one, since they are typically filled with useless tat. However, every now and then you may find something unique there. It doesn't look like he's having much luck today though.
Sometimes you want to go for a quick and easy painting – and sometimes you need to try something more ambitious. I don't know how long this took exactly. Long enough though, as it is probably the most detailed painting I've done so far. In a slightly unusual change of my workflow, I did a value only painting first before colouring and finishing it. This is not my prefered method for various reasons, but I use it every now and then when I think that getting the values right may pose a bit of a challenge.
