Assengor's lighthouse was built in 1886, to help ships navigate the nearby dangerous shoals, it needed a dedicated crew of three to help keep the light burning. Maintenance costs, and the creation of the Spontoon Island Navigational Aid Service rendered it and all other such lighthouses obsolete.
I've been trying to do a lighthouse themed pic for years, looking at lighthouse pics, but every time I drew one, it didn't look right. This one looks O.K. as I deliberately made the tower smaller.
