I was really trying to think of a character I genuinely hate, and I can't overly come up with any besides these three. Now, let me clarify right now before you run me through with your pitchforks and set me on fire at the stake. I DO NOT hate these characters, I hate what they are, Gateway characters.
A LARGE portion of new furry enthusiasts start out on one of these 3 characters. Whether you had an awakening from space jam, found blue boobs mc'starfox, or found Renamon through the internet, chances are one of these three brought anyone in the fandom to the fandom. I can personally say, Krystal is the reason I really started to become a furry, I found pictures done by Tailsrulz of Krystal on the image browser in google and was instantly hooked. "Blue-boobs mc'Furrydream" as said by Jon Jafari is a pretty apt summary of her character to most people, and that is what I don't like about these three.
These three are gateway characters, and therefore are treated in my opinion fairly poorly. There is so much fanart ranging every strange fetish and fantasy all over the spectrum and its the main reason I never started drawing these three. I don't begrudge anyone for drawing fanart of them, but man is some of it out there... and that is what lands them on my list of most hated characters.

I believe "overrated" should have been used instead of "hated" Though some may hate some of them I think they are still well loved in the furry community regardless of them being "gateway characters" or not. Krystal and Lola are two of my faves, but I suppose I got my start from Main Marian in Disney's Robin Hood. I actually never had anything for Renamon really even though I love foxes (didn't even know she was one at first) I also liked Carmelita Fox and Minerva Mink, which could maybe also classify as "gateway" along with Gadget Hackwrench and Sally Acorn... and now maybe Judy Hopps!?
Its not that I even hate the characters. Krystal was my introduction to one of my old favorite artists, and Renamon was extremely cool looking to me once I started really looking at this fandom. I really like both of them, but yes this is essentially a "most overrated" or "most fanart abused" characters list.
I hate old Lola, cause her entire "design", if you can call it that, was literally just sexy marketable girl bugs bunny. There was almost zero actual character involved. New Lola, ala the "looney tunes show" I've seen snippets of and I absolutely love the character.
The prompt for today was "most hated character" I took a stab at the way these three are treated primarily. I don't hate any of them. Also yes, Judy H. and Nick W. will definitely be a new set of gateway characters for a new furry generation.

while hated is not the word i would use, but you highlighted one point about these three(and not just these three, mine gateway was minerva mink). Being gateway they tend to be wrapped into whateverf fatish the fan like most, evne if it make sense or not. While for pin-up pic is not a issue since, well is just pic no biggie, but is when fanfiction and comics enter the fray thing tend to become more disturbing.
ANd i too fall into it(i once wrote fanfic detailing a budding romance between renamon and minerva mink at a comic convention...I kind of remember aliens were involved at some point...)
Still sometimes is funny putting some character in romantic bondage situation.
