Can you even see me?
I’m looking straight at you.
Your presence sought by deepest need.
And yet you stare past me, through me.
Have you heard a word I’ve said?
Can you even hear my voice?
I relish the sentiment you half heartedly give.
You don’t even tilt your ear to my whispers.
As though I were invisible, your attention wanders on.
You stare past me, through me, and yet you don’t see me.
I am what I am, a creature flawed, at odds with myself.
Now that you turn my way, I wonder if I was ever there at all.
