This has happened to me many many times.
Donna sits down to watch a movie she's been excited to watch all day. It starts out great, everything is good until the ending... "Really? You're gonna end it like THAT!?"

The Burbs. Saw it years ago and still disappointed. Really good movie too, really keeps you guessing as to whether or not the creepy neighbours are evil or just weird... explanations come up for every weird thing but they don't always seem quite true, stuff like that. Spoiler alert:
The neighbourhood get so wound up that they end up blowing up the weird people's house in their paranoia. The weird ones were just people all along and it was the "normal" people who were psychos all along, the irony is justified and delicious. Then within the last minute or two the head of the weird neighbour house is basically, "surprise! We really were evil! Even though now it makes no sense from a story or irony standpoint!" and the movie's message that it was building up all along goes from "give people the benefit of the doubt and accept them, even if they are strange" to "strange people are evil, you are right to fear them!"
Apologies for the rant, but it just irks me so much... a good, little known film, ruined by a cop-out. Still not okay!

Well, I have to admit I really did enjoy it until that point, perhaps I should rewatch it and give it another chance, maybe it was supposed to be the weird guy snapping and justifiably wanting payback for blowing up his house, I dunno.
It does sound like it's been done before many times, but I still liked how it all came together, plus Tom Hanks is likeable in anything. Really must watch some Twilight Zone at some point!
