So, this commission, while simple in nature, has produced some of the BEST poses I've ever drawn. Seriously, this series is a gem, and I'm so happy to have done it! Not too often to I find myself "appreciating" commission work myself, but this series is definitely on my list of artwork I'll always "appreciate".
The hands for this one were a friggen nightmare, for some reason. I think it was just the position I ended up putting them in that made it difficult. Also, as an amusing aside, both me and Cyril came up with the idea of having his belly churn in between his counting. Great minds think alike, huh?
Story: With his meal nearly gone, it was time for the final step: good old fashioned weight training! Grabbing the nearest two 50lbs dumbbells, Cyril got right to work. The guide said that now that the prey was in the final stages of absorption by the digestive system, it was important to create a need in the muscles, forcing all of the nutrients to go directly to where the predator wants it. Namely, the arms, abdomen, and legs. Multiple different dumbbell exercises were outlined, but Cyril decided to begin with the simplest, bicep curls. His stomach was still much too large to do any of the abdominal work, and would get in the way of any of his legwork, so this seemed to be the logical choice. After only 10 reps, he could feel his muscles start to get noticeably stronger, and that's when his stomach started to count with him. After nearly every rep, his stomach would let out a gurgle in time with his cycle, and with each curl, his stomach almost visibly shrank. He was slightly saddened at this; after all, a mark of a successful predator is the gut they carry around! But, he figured it was a worthy sacrifice if it was all going into making him look amazing. After 50 reps, he could easily keep up with his stomach's quickening churns, nearly competing with it! This routine certainly was all it's cracked up to be!
