Whelp... I sent more money, WAAAAAY too much money, and I got me a bass guitar.
Isn't she pretty? ^^
(I know it's a pretty bad picture, I'll try to take a better pic when I get my six string ^^; )
The one guitar that I bought from a personal seller wound up being too expensive to repair for the worth of the guitar (glad I only spent $20 on it), and I still can't get my other guitar I bought from the guitar store for two more weeks, and I got tired of waiting, so I decided to try getting a bass guitar on top of the six-string I will be getting.
I figured that the bass may be a little bit easier to start on anyway, because even though it only has one less sting, the strings slightly more spaced out than on the six-string, which may make it easier to pluck and play. Also, I figured, since they are so similar to each other, learning on both guitars at once shouldn't be too difficult. Plus, if I am able to do both the bass and the six-string, it will make me a LOT more adaptable, and give me a better chance to jam with my friends, since sometimes they are missing either a bass player, or a guitar player, so I would be able to fill in for either.
That is, whenever I am able to learn how to play... Right now, I haven't the slightest clue, hell, I don't even know how to tune the thing! But I do intend to learn! (especially after spending so much money on it! ^^; )
At first, I was looking at some cheap basses, but decided that I wanted to get a bass that sounded good, so that I didn't have to come back and buy another bass after I learned how to play, like I will have to do with my guitar (I got the guitar for $40, so it is hardly high quality)
Anyway, so I was browsing the bass guitars at the guitar store, and this pretty little thing kept drawing my attention to it. When I asked a sales associate about it, he seemed to be quite excited about it, much more so than the other bass guitars I had asked him about previously, and I decided to take that as a promising sign. Apparently, this bass is a hybrid of Jazz and P bass, (although I'm not sure what that means ^^; ) and according to the sales rep, this bass sounds pretty good, and parts are very easy to get. And when I held the bass, I found that it felt pretty good in my hands, and that I was easily able to wrap my hand around the neck, and reach all of the strings, and so I went ahead and got it (even though I really couldn't afford it ^^; ).
The cost made me cringe quite a bit, since it costed more than my two guitars, my amp, and the Rocksmith game combined! Normally, the price for this bass was $500, but it was on sale for $350. I figured that it was a pretty good deal, and a pretty good bass, one that I won't have to upgrade from for a long time, if ever.
Although, I also had to get a case ($100), a shoulder strap ($35), a tuner ($25), some picks ($9), and a music stand ($40). Plus I got a three year warranty on the bass ($110).
So in total, I spent about $700 after tax!
...ouch
Well... hopefully it'll be worth it in the end... ^^;
I think I may try to install Rocksmith on my laptop, and start playing this thing tomorrow, after I visit the clinic (I'll put details about that in a journal)
If I get good enough at playing, then perhaps I'll make a video of me playing, and upload it for you guys to see! ;P
Anyway, that's it for now

Welp, I started playing on it tonight, and I gotta say, I had a hard time putting it down! That Rocksmith game is amazing!
I got a little worried when I heard that the 60 day challenge was not working, and hadn't been for several months, but after actually playing the game, I was relieved, and VERY pleased that all of the functions I was hoping for were all working! (tracking how well you play, starting you out easy, and growing in difficulty based on how well you are able to play, and give basic lessons), not to mention a whole ton of features I have yet to explore!
There was a couple problems I ran into, however. There doesn't seem to be any option for a five string bass, so my B string is completely unused, and ends up throwing me off from time to time (since they show the E sting as the top string, but my E string is the second one down)
That's nothing I can't work around, but I was kinda hoping to be able to use all the strings...
The second issue I noticed is that the game seems to think I'm playing better than I actually am, giving me hits where I know I missed or got the wrong note, and then the difficulty increases a bit too much, and I get completely lost while trying to keep up ^^;
But those are relatively minor issues, and I am more than happy with the game! I had a lot of fun playing it, and even though I still totally suck at the bass, I was able to see quite a bit of improvement in only one hour of playing! And I had a ton of fun doing it too, which means I will have no problem with taking the time to practice! I just might be able to play by this BABS Con after all! ^^
