Ushered into the world at the same time, a sibling pair found themselves brought into a vast galaxy filled with all manner of cutthroats. In this dangerous setting, the pair of siblings eventually found themselves abandoned, left behind by caregivers who couldn’t be bothered to raise them. With none but each other to count on, the two beat the odds against them, surviving through all manner of hardship. Eventually, they would even begin to thrive, honing their skills for subterfuge into a bold profession.
“Wow that’s a pretty dramatic way of putting it Bert. For those of you who like it a bit plainer, we’re twins that got dumped by our parents. Together we managed to survive, though it took a lot of stealing, lying, and cheating people who’d just as soon spit on us as look at us. But all that hard work paid off when we grew up, cause it gave us perfect skills for a galactic order of assassins.”
An accurate, if somewhat simplistic, summation of our life before we joined the Null Wraiths, Natalia. Despite the services provided and demands of the job, they are a rather friendly bunch. It was the first time since we could ever truly remember that we felt as if we were home.
“Yep, got even better when Nox showed up. Poor bastard is just so easy to tease.”
Agreed. Course I’m fairly certain he plays along just for the fun of it. But eventually we took our leave of the Null Wraiths to find our own place amongst the stars. Well I say we took our leave, but we were still more than happy to help our family out if they were in the area and needed some help.
“Yep yep. Plus it’s a lot of fun busting up some heads, especially when the marks think I’m just some weak little girl. They never suspect the cute little kitten to have cybernetics under the skin.”
I never really got WHY cybers feel the need to let others know what they are. It puts the enemy on guard and loses an opportune chance to catch them off guard. I’d hide my amplifier if I could for the exact same reason.
“I just didn’t want to disrupt my wonderful fur. Honestly, I wish they’d be ready for me, then at least I could have some real fun and show my stuff.”
Ah sister, you are certainly in life for but the simple pleasures.
“Why go for complicated shit when the simple stuff is just as good! Come on, lets go screw with Nox!”
It would appear I too am in life for but the simple pleasures.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give to you Bertrand and his twin sister Natalia, navigator and pilot of the Dark Ice Jaegers respectively. They're fraternal twins in case you couldn't tell. This was a commission I got off
xehta13 so I could finally show off the pair. And as always I'm just giddy at the end result.
These two are actually some of my favorite characters just for their personalities. They're a couple of snarky little trolls, taking endless amounts of joy in teasing and screwing with everyone, but especially a certain cybernetic hound that still calls them friends for some reason. They're also extremely loyal to one another, having spent their childhoods alone they had to be able to rely on one another to survive, though that won't stop them from engaging in some good natured sibling ribbing.
Bertrand is the intellectual of the pair, as such he's also in charge of creating the greater strategy for approaching missions, though he leave somethings up to the others since he can't plan for everything. A psionic, he wields an telekinetic amplifier on his left hand which while not as flashy as a fire or ice amp, has a lot more practicality.
Natalia is much less inclined to thinking than her brother, she's the type of girl to just run in and act. That said she's not dumb muscle, she's just more prone to take high risk high reward scenarios. She also has the distinct advantage of being a cyber without anything to expose that fact. As such, most opponents tend to underestimate her, which proves fatal in the end.
The different mindsets show most in their fighting preference; Natalia wants to be up close and clobbering people with her electric tonfa, where as Bertrand prefers distance engagement with his burst modded glock.
