*Edit*: And a second huge thank you for
Johis noticing a couple of things in comments and making a couple of adjustments on the finished piece, which I greatly appreciate, particularly since they were details that I was the one who missed in the review :)
This beautifully done piece was made by the amazing
Johis
This is kind of another one of those "slice of the life of Mag" pieces if you'll bear with me, but it is one that has been pretty strongly on the mind of late. I want to write, create, to learn make beauty and music. But for now I must wait, or only do it a little bit at a time, piece by piece.
It is an interesting thing, really, for all the people who I build develop, teach, mentor, and train in life (and while that currently numbers in the thousands in the years I've been in service, as a leader, a trainer, and an instructor), and for the positive impact I'm trying to make on the 108 souls I'm currently personally responsible for, I still do have this longing to create and inspire in my off time as well.
Nevertheless, for now, what I do is definitely bigger than what I personally desire, or long to do in life and with my time, for in the end the level at which I build, train, and develop these folks for whom I am responsible could legitimately mean the difference between life and death. And even if the organization I am currently in charge of is not have to face such a thing, I'd be remiss in my responsibilities if I did not first make the organization better than what it was before I came to it, and I'd be a failure if it did not grow in such a way that it continues to flourish even when I am gone.
Still, hopefully as routines and systems are established, perhaps later I'll have a bit more time to engage and that which I wish to do.
V/R,
Cap Mag.

Cool deal!
I'd certainly be interesting in at least having a look, as I do tend to use Telegram a bit! It's easier for me to stay connected with folks online at this point because I seem to move somewhere every 17 months (that's been my longest assignment on place thus far since going active anyway).

I hear ya man,
And I can understand the reason on that for a variety of reasons. I tend to have a mixture in mine. Places I've been, things that I want to do, and places that I have a strong pull towards because of the bit of a "moral imperative" that I abide by, but have not yet been to.
And of course there are other fictions that I weave and get art commissioned for, but I do enjoy telling a story XD

This is a truely magnificent piece. I can't help but think that this will be me in the near future. I'd be trading in the camo for navy blue though. I'm not sure how familiar you are with Canadian universities, but I will hopefully be attending RMC (Royal Military College of Canada) this fall. I get my education paid for, and I would be doing my dream job (Air Force Pilot) after graduation.
Thank you!
And indeed it is XD Ah, cool deal man! So it'll be the equivalent to going through the Air Force Academy that we have here in the United States. Interestingly enough, my best friend growing up went through the AF Academy and is a now a pilot and a Captain himself XD I do hope you have great success and enjoyment at your time there! For all the challenges I encountered in my time as a Cadet, I certainly do have some extremely memorable instances and friendships from those years :)

Aye, there were a couple of insignia not one there, that I missed in my review (was likely swamped the week I reviewed it)
I mean, here is the comment she noticed on it: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/224.....#cid:116090623
I try not to be super picky about it, mostly because I use many of the things I asked represented artistically daily and I am intimately familiar with them, where as an artist, well, is not, so small things, particularly if I've missed it in a review, I don't get too all bent out of shape about...
But it was super nice of her to notice it in comments and make a the fix and I really appreciated it XD

Ahahah! I love this pic xD I know the feeling, I stare to EVERYTHING i can't use wondering if I will have time sooner or later.
Btw, that could be my desk, just the violin has skulls painted on it, and the plant is an orchid (sometimes a bean)... Oh and add a post-it with maxwel laws on the pot ahahahahah X'D but hey, I also have doodles with mag face here and a rubber like that

XD yeah, want to do all the things, but for myself I can only do 1 at a time! And I do constantly look at things I want to do, my lessons for art/music, my pilot's log, my parachutist log, all the things and wish I had more time...
XD Nice! I do try to at least keep the desk clean with only my current project on the desk XP Skulls on the violin, eh? Maybe a rose or two XP I don't have any post it's, but I do have a set up chess board as an unspoken challenge now (if one my guys dares to challenge me and beat me in fact, they'd get a day off! No one has stepped up to it yet XD ) Hmmm, my doodles are largely lessons and Mayhem, but am trying for more!

aahahahaha you evil! XD So if they win they get a day off but an angry boss, and if they loose... well they have lost. I can't play chess, but I love to pretend to play chess and drive people who plays with me mad, because they try to find out my scheme while I don't really have one. X'D
I would have lost them all, but good thing that chess games take ages and so I think I never ended one. On the other side my poker face is so good that my enemies are happy when we leave the game unfinished. Trolling is too fun. But don't spread the world or they'll kick my ass for sure X'D

XD Well, not so much evil as it is a test XP
See, I've not told anyone that I would give them a day off if they win, or the benefits of challenging me. While there is no consequence to losing, I want to see who has the temerity to do so at all. It is a thing I want in my organization, to build those who show backbone and potential. So I guess ultimately it is a test to see who is both smart and ballsy, and to reward them first, and later on give them more responsibilities, to see if they can handle it and to go one form there to build them as leaders. This is ultimately because I'm not simply looking for brainless jocks to be leaders within the organization, I need both fitness and intelligence for this.
As for skill, I've gotten better with age XD Part of it is my "cold read" on people, as to how they will play. Based on the type of personality they are, I then determine the type of strategy (if any) they will use in game, and analyze and forecast their moves from the very beginning. It is a thing that takes a while, but I do enjoy that portion of the game as well XD And it does give me the opportunity to troll people who have no strategy (such as sacrificing powerful pieces, like the queen, to get a check mate in the next move), the smug look of early victory, followed by the look of shock is priceless XD

Personnel reports?
Nah, that's First Sergeant's lane. mine is more in line with training and operational planning, property management, and supervising/refining things (if we have anything going on), to provide a very broad and brief summary XD
Well, I suppose at times it might not be... though I certainly welcome folks to have "a day in the life of", I can certainly arrange such a thing, from 0500 Physical Training, to whenever in the day we may finish (could be 1800... could be 2100... depends on what the focus is XD )

*Reads through the DA 4187s*
"Alright, so most of these are good, except these two. This one does not have a record APFT in the last 6 months, and this one currently is red on their PHA on MEDPROS, once those are corrected I'll sign." XD Well, that's often how it goes when I receive DA 4187s and DA 31s, though usually I sign everything that is submitted to me at the end of every day, I don't like things stacking up, nor do I want people to wait on things because they need my signature...
XD Well true, it is never big enough XD On the new Scorpion Pattern, it doesn't even leave any room on the velcroany more XD (yes, unfortunately the shoulder patches are still velcro, the only vestige of the Velcro nightmare the ACUs were).

Sounds like my first few months working training room indeed(complete with self frustration at not catching mistakes earlier)! And agreed with work stacking up, even if the norm is a never-ending marathon, doesn't stop us from trying!
Thanks for commissioning images like this; I'm surprised this one got as much of a reaction out of me as it did, though I can understand why given my position(not to mention that it's a stellar piece of art, period!).
And the standard Army cinderblock office. It's uh...very standard. xD

Wow,
This speaks to me. Been Active Duty for 11 years and going career. Often times I feel my creativity is stifled and starving. With nobody to confide in and always forced to be the leader, to be the object of everyone's gaze, to be looked up to, to be expected to be the perfect model, you can never really get a chance to just 'be yourself'.
I feel like I've been wearing two masks; one for my career and leadership, and one for my family, wife and children. I've worn those masks for so long that I don't remember what I look like under them any more.
You do get to see the fruits of your labor. Your children grow and learn and do well. Your subordinates grow and train, eventually to take your place as you move higher. All commendable and worthwhile no doubt. I'm left with one nagging question though after it all.
Was it really me who was there?
