Added the padding, about as simply as possible! Patterned a sheet of cloth on the inside of the foam that I'd used when making the DTD. Held foam in the position that it was originally in against the inside of the fur, marked that like, then hand-sewed it down, just dipping the needle through the backing. Seems like it'll work fine!

Left the narrow seam at the wrist open and poked the fluff in through there.
