An attempt to create a more efficient anti-missile system, the missile shredder functions like an oversized shotgun. Each one of the five barrels holds a shell filled with thousands of small steel flechettes that are fired in a dense cloud, drastically increasing the chance to hit an incoming missile. However, the flechette cloud needs some time to expand, which means that the missile shredder cannot be used at point blank range, and the large ammo shells limit the weapon to five shots before it is depleted.
Game Rules:
Mass: 1 ton
Critical slots required: 1
Number of shots: 5
The missile shredder must be assigned to engage incoming missiles coming in from one of the six possible hex sides (iow: you need six missile shredders to occupy all six hex sides). It may not be used for targeting a missile attack that is closer than 1 hex.
A single shot from the missile shredder attacks all incoming missiles fired in that turn. When the attack roll against incoming missiles is successful, roll an amount of dice to determine how many missiles were shot down.
1-10 missiles: 1D6
11-20 missiles: 2D6
21+ missiles: 3D6
