The yer of the rooster is upon us! I always liked roosters. They have a very mythical look; which is unsurprising how intertwined chickens are to human culture. In this case i reflected on a story I was told as a child and I find is not known too much today. According to Chinese legend, the rooster had horns which enabled it to fly. A dragon ho could not fly asked the rooster to borrow it horns. the rooster was unsure, but it’s friend a centipede insured the rooster the dragon would return it’s horns. Of course the dragon did not and the rooster hunts the centipede to this day. The rooster’s crowing is it calling to the dragon to return it’s horns. A more eloquent gelignite can be found here of this story:

I think the rooster should inspire us to try and take back our wings. This year will have a lot of hardships, but we can fight back. 2016 took out horns. We shall fight to get them back and resist.
