if i may, i'd like to do a little "general venting," in reference to the situation depicted above:
i know rejection sucks.
Rejection, given to you from a person you really Fancy, sucks donkey balls.
obviously.
Fine.
I get it.
What I don't get, is all the angst that, at times, gets exhibited.
´gets exhibited, between a m+f / f+m
because from where i stand (and now, for simplicity's sake, i'll focus this on robbie-bæ up there), robb really has nothing to lose, other than a little bit of dignity.
(does robb not know that other chicks might possibly find him attractive? is robb actually that humble? {because Humility, and Self-Deprecation, as exhibited by a muscle-bound, not-unattractive, fella, can be a very good quality, right there...})
if beckie doesn't wanna be viewed as a Total Bitch by those who are of upstanding character, it'd be in her best interest to let the big lug down as tactfully, and as privately, as is feasible (factoring in, whether beckie might believe her safety could be in danger, from her doing so).
then the onus is on robb to just let it go, and move on

That seems really easy to me.
but now look at this, from a gay man's perspective.
he faces, not only, the very possible chance of being rejected: he might, indeed, find himself on the receiving end of a Hate Crime.
like alex currently is, while alex is out trying to get his "partying" on.
we gay / "same-sex seeking" men have so much more at stake, in the pursuits of our Loves & Lusts..
..thusly, and especially for those of us who do have a harder time Connecting (due to our: being introverted; not "traditionally" attractive; Socially Awkward; being encumbered with some sort of Impediment or Physical Blemish), we might get miffed, a little.
not that we discount robb's feelings (which are valid, considering he obviously has a Crippling Fear and, i guess, tremendous admiration for Rebecca) completely; but because we know we've likely Been There ourselves (ain't that right, husky? < http://www.furaffinity.net/view/21875049/ >), with the added handicap, our "chances" for a Failure State is increased multi-fold, with additional possible repercussions and consequences tacked on to it, we are prone to letting out a big sigh, and then mutter to ourselves, i wish i could Kiss My Crush, without my not knowing whether he is going to attempt to crack my face wide open later on...
