Rainbow Dash: Side-by-Side Comparison
As with my recent Scootaloo, allow me to show you the two versions next to one another, for easy comparison of what about 3 years of pony drawing improvement looks like, in my case.
Don't give up on your aspirations, and even if you are one of those who, like me, are cursed with being their own critics, let that be the fuel that drives you towards further improvement. On each of your works, try to identify something that you're not happy with, even if it's something small, and think of how you could improve it. Then do a conscious effort to do just that on your next work. Even if you still are not happy (and you probably won't be), it will definitely be a step forward on your path to improvement.

Thing is, I started out by drawing ponies in 2011 by sticking pretty close to the show style... well, a pretty lame interpretation of it, to be honest. However, I do have a pretty solid aesthetic sense that I've cemented throughout decades with influences from sources so diverse as my favorite comic artistss, Disney movies, 90's anime and many others. What happened was that I was able to progressively shift from that primitive interpretation of the wonderful work Lauren Faust and her team did designing the MLP G4 look, to something that more accurately reflects my aesthetic sensibilities. This was a gradual process, of course, and it's by no means over, so expect more evolution (although slower now) in the coming years. Mainly, I'll need to make a conscious effort to simplify my designs while maintaining their expressiveness, or else I'll never be able to be productive enough to provide for myself with my artwork.
Thank you so much for enjoying this!
