I needed a character to directly offset/challenge Dyna (the Beelzebot) so I came up with Strobe (the Draconeon). They're from completely different backgrounds/social orders - Dyna is (or should be) a hive order creature - and Strobe is a solitary predator. This means their outlook/behavioural traits are very different. Hopefully I can get around to offsetting their personalities in a comic eventually.
I think I really outdid myself with Strobe's design - and it's strange to think she may have never came into being if I hadn't first created Dyna.
