Ok, we're not lions, but I thought it would be cute to make the anthro figures furry. :P
But, here's the final design for our outfits! Yum, yum! I have pretty much all the materials, even the leather to make the shoes (yes, I'm gonna make period-appropriate slippers for the costumes). The tunic and dress are going to be made of duppioni silk and velvet, Kani's under-tunic and the sleeves of my gown are gold silk tissue, and his pants, my underskirt and the linings of my sleeves will be a lovely brocade in rayon that's so nice and thin... Rawr!
The trim is this really cool organza stuff in gold with embroidery and sequins on it that I got out of the Christmas bin when it was on sale. Working at a fabric-store was such fun. Hee... Gonna do simple bead-work on everything, too- just a single line of faux pearls, if I can find the right kind of beads.
Dang, we're gonna look fuggin' AWESOME!
Hmmm, the thought of walking about the Renaissance Faires for a honeymoon sounds really sweet...
A certain dragon is a sentimental old sort (
): he sent me a lovely poem, wistful, yet poignant with ancient dust. Hard to do with a modern poem. :)
Here it is, for anyone interested:
"AN ARUNDEL TOMB"
Side by side, their faces blurred,
The earl and countess lie in stone,
Their proper habits vaguely shown
As jointed armour, stiffened pleat,
And that faint hint of the absurd -
The little dogs under their feet.
Such plainness of the pre-baroque
Hardly involves the eye, until
It meets his left-hand gauntlet, still
Clasped empty in the other; and
One sees, with a sharp tender shock,
His hand withdrawn, holding her hand.
They would not think to lie so long.
Such faithfulness in effigy
Was just a detail friends would see:
A sculptor's sweet commissioned grace
Thrown off in helping to prolong
The Latin names around the base.
They would not guess how early in
Their supine stationary voyage
The air would change to soundless damage,
Turn the old tenantry away;
How soon succeeding eyes begin
To look, not read. Rigidly, they
Persisted, linked, through lengths and breadths
Of time. Snow fell, undated. Light
Each summer thronged the glass. A bright
Litter of birdcalls strewed the same
Bone-riddled ground. And up the paths
The endless altered people came,
Washing at their identity.
Now, helpless in the hollow of
An unarmorial age, a trough
Of smoke in slow suspended skeins
Above their scrap of history,
Only an attitude remains:
Time has transfigured them into
Untruth. The stone fidelity
They hardly meant has come to be
Their final blazon, and to prove
Our almost-instinct almost true:
What will survive of us is love.
(I think the name of the author at the bottom was Philip Larkin- I'll go check in a moment)

It's really rewarding, actually! I've been making clothes since I was a teenager, and desiging my own for about ten years. Then I got serious and took a pattern-drafting course so I could learn how the professionals do it- that was in 2003 and I'm working towards making it my main career. That, and I just like making costumes.
Yup, yup! Was orignally thinking of something more modern, say Renaissance, but that stuff is insanely complex- the corset alone uses nine yards of boning... But it's so easy to make twelfth-century stuff look gorgeous, so I went with that. It's not strictly period, but who cares? It's pretty!
Oh... I am so jealous now. :) Those designs are so utterly simple, and yet heartbreakingly beautiful.
*gently nuzzles and kisses, purring quietly to you, softly and quietly rumbling* _niHan aHi...
... you know, this old poem jumped into my head when I saw that picture: http://home.clara.net/stevebrown/ht.....undel_tomb.htm It was the first thing that came to mind after thinking how beautiful you are both going to be that day. *smiles and softly kisses again*

*HUG!* And you'll get to see 'em up close! I'm sure you'll want to pet the velvet, at least. Heh.
And the poem is lovely- I posted the text up in the description, in case you haven't seen that, yet. *smooches* I'm working on an answer to your email, too- expect it sometime tonight.

Wow! I just popped in to look at the plush dragon you'd made and looked at this too!
Firstly, Congratulations to you and KaniS, I hope you have an absolutly wonderful day!
Secondly, those designs look fantasic! The medievil dress always looks so fantastic and having the groom to match is wonderful. I feel underwelmed when I see grooms dressed in the typical plain gray or black suit with little or no embelishment. (I like to think I we VERY well embelshed at my wedding, with lots of shiney silver buttons and broaches!)
Thirdly, are these made yet or in the making? when will photos be available, whens the wedding?!

Hi, there! *grins* Were you able to get a hold of Mersang to see her plushies, too? *is curious about her art, but hasn't seen any, yet*
Thanks for liking my designs! And yes, they are in the making. I have all the materials in my fabric stash (been collecting and saving certain things for a special occasion for the last three years, little did I know I'd be using them so soon) and I've been setting up my work-room (still in chaos after the Big Move down here to California from Canada) and should be able to start work on them tomorrow. The outfits themselves are actually really simple in design. It's all the trim and beadwork that'll take some time to do.
The wedding is on June 21st, of this summer. I thought a Solstice wedding was a cool idea. And I agree with you toally on the dull fare most grooms put up with! Blah! The couple should look like royalty on their day! And so we will, if I have anything to say on it. *grins evilly* That, and there may be dragon-heads in those pix. Making those, too. And tails. What's a formal wedding without tails? Heh.
