Personal Statement
"My name is Detective Patrick Dunn. I used to think I knew how the world worked. Everything made sense to me. I had a woman I loved, a job I enjoyed, and I ended every day knowing I was making the city a little bit safer. Then I drew the Walters murder. I hadn't been there an hour before some man in body armor tried to tell me my suspect was a werewolf. I was so certain it was a ridiculous claim I sent him on his way. Maybe I knew right then he was right but I didn't want to believe it. I tried to find a way to rationalize the clues I saw and the things that were missing from the crime scene. There had to be a way to explain this because werewolves just weren't real.
Then I saw one. I ran into the wolf like being while following a person of interest. I didn't know what to do. I suppose I'm lucky I even survived. I don't remember much other than getting my head knocked around a little. From then on I couldn't see any other answer other than werewolves. It was like once I could no longer deny what I was seeing it was as clear to me as if it had been a billboard.
I couldn't tell my captain or anyone else down at the precinct. How could I? They wouldn't believe me even if I tried. I struggled to find some way to serve justice within the confines of the law but there was no way a werewolf could be brought to trial. The only way I can keep the people of this city safe is to work with the Werehunters and put these monsters down.
They could be anyone. Perhaps that's what makes them so dangerous. You could be sleeping beside one and you'd never know."

Oh man. That last sentence in the personal statement is just heart wrenching. The poor guy has no idea how right he is. Fortunately for Logan, he doesn't seem as prone to turn fanatical as some people we could mention, and he has always struck me as a pretty decent guy all around. Of course, Logan's involvement with another werewolf will no doubt complicate things on several levels, and I'm both looking forward to and dreading his reaction to finding all this out. Dreading, because I know it's going to be pretty devastating for him, however interesting a story it makes for us. As I think I've said, you really do have a knack for coming up with characters who are not only likable but genuinely sympathetic and you just want to know they're gong to be okay.
The artist did a great job with him, and he's really rather handsome, too. As I said elsewhere, it's nice to find artists who can do humans as well as furry characters, and do them well, and they knocked this one out of the park.

Oh yeah, and it's a point the Werehunters bring up at some point during the story. Werewolves can literally be anyone, from your boss to your mother to your bitch of an ex girlfriend. You'll never know unless you see them change, so they could be anywhere. Of course, their respective choices mean they'll end up somewhere neither of them saw coming, but you'll see. :)
In the case of Patrick and Logan (and in fact the entire cast) I really just kind of let the story tell itself. I hadn't planned on much other than everyone's roles, so I had no idea if everyone would survive the story, what they would do, etc, until they decided to do it. In order to make certain plot points early on work out I had to keep certain characters apart and others together so they could relay the right information to their respective audience, but the way Patrick and Logan work out really highlights how much secrets can affect a relationship. As far as Patrick's ultimate fate, that's still being written. :)
I agree, human artists are hard to find plus I have a general preference for furry art (go figure), so I knew when I finally got around to it I was going to use Jakkal. Plus the fact that she's sort of the unofficial Blue Moon artist (almost all of the images related thereto have been from her so far), so it made sense.
