A typical stray... with a rosary around his paw?

I'm sensing a bit of backstory coming on... the sort of monk who would prefer to spend his time out amongst the people, not too proud to beg and drifting from place to place, concentrating his efforts on exorcising rogue spirits and putting the restless to their final rest.
Of course this practice has deemed him as somewhat of a crazy person by the humans who don't believe. Hence the scars.
But the dog community (who can see the spirits, or at least sense their presence as all dogs are known to be able to do) hold him in high regards and offer him food and treats, the things that he needs to get by.

Hey, that's pretty good! I didn't really think of a backstory myself, beyond maybe he's the conman sort of shit that sweet talks his criminal buddies into a crime, then runs off with the money while they get caught for it. It's made him a lot of enemies, and it's only by the grace of God that he's still alive. Or that could just be a sweet line he feeds to girls to butter them up. At any rate, your idea is really cool!
