I'm not going to wait until next "Throwback Thursday" to post this latest, exclusive 'photo-op' - taken on Thursday night, January 19, 2017 (the evening before Inauguration Day), by my brother Glenn on his smartphone camera - of yours truly with actor/comedian Lewis Black!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with him, Lewis Black was best known for his concerts that aired on Comedy Central and HBO, as well as his semi-regular appearances on "The Daily Show" (called 'Back in Black'). Among the movies he had appeared in were "Accepted" (with Justin Long), "Man of the Year" (with the late Robin Williams), and "Unaccompanied Minors". (And, as many of you 'furry fanatics' know, he's also one of the voice actors of the upcoming animated feature "Rock Dog" - set to debut in the USA this February!)
Glenn and I attended the comedy concert tour "Rant, White and Blue" at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts in Coral Springs, Florida, where Mr. Black entertained a packed house for nearly an hour - with his usual profane tirades about the 2016 Presidential Election ("Americans had finally done it... They selected two big-named candidates that nobody gives a s*** about!"), other politicians ("Any hearing Ben Carson speak, I'd suddenly realized... F***! I could've been a brain surgeon, too!"), and other subject matter (from Florida's 'road rage' problems to 'candy corn' in other flavors). He even had time, after his performance to do a live audio podcast on stage.
Naturally, after the show, my sibling and I hung around the lobby, in order to get Mr. Black's autograph on a few items connected with him (our respective tickets, CDs, etc.). I even got him to chuckle, when I told him, "...Our mother thinks you're the funniest person in the world... She's been dead now for ten years, but she still thinks you're funny!"
BTW, if you are wondering what's on that paper between the two of us in said 'photo-op', it's a "Knight's-Tour Crypt" puzzle which I'd made back in 2008 for the NPL (the National Puzzlers' League). Inside this grid of letters - shaped like a dreidel - is an original quotation about Hanukkah (appropriately enough) by Mr. Black himself. He was even nice enough to sign his name in my copy of "The Enigma" (the monthly newsletter of the NPL) that featured said puzzle.
This 'photo-op' will remain in my 'Gallery' until July, 2017 - when it will be transferred to my 'Scraps' section (where you might find additional pictures of me with other unique celebrities I'd met over the years)...
BTW, if you'd like to participate in one of Lewis Black podcasts, submit a question or suggestion to his mobile-friendly website and he might rant about it... livelewis.com/a Q&As may be viewed live and replays will be available for a few days after each show of his "Rant, White and Blue" tour at lewisblack.com/live (WARNING: For mature audiences, due to adult language)
