A view worth fighting for
After my cleaning over the past few days but before my cleaning this afternoon where I touched up her covers over her gas gauge, speedometer, and clock (Which I also set despite her not having a battery lol) I think her interior is starting to pretty up nicely! I have a video from before I owned her and was allowed to start cleaning her up on the inside if you really want to see that, but as far as pictures go I don't think I want to show off just how bad Cassandra was before I got involved. Again thank you everyone for your interest and support. After sitting behind the wheel today and putting my foot on the pedal I know that this is a seat meant for me, a Chariot against time and a view I'm willing to fight to make a reality!

I know you're going to hate to hear it lol.. but that's some nice patina on her sheering wheel. An actual good case of it, where it kinda tells a story.. seeing where its worn away where hands have held it.
You know despite being competitors, it's kind of amazing how similar the steering column looks, it almost looks just like Mitzi's. The little simple gear display perched above, the simple P,R,N,D, and Low gears. Even the design of the horn ring is kinda similar. Lol speaking of being competitors. Imagine breaking car show law and actually meeting up and having a Ford and Chevy park together lol! That's right, bring free from modelist stereotypes, stop your carsplaining.
Wow just look at the clouding on those gauges lol. If you can pop that plastic out you may be able to polish the oxidation out either by hand or with an electric buffer. It's the same thing that happens to headlights so you could use some of that headlight restorer.. or just some rubbing compound. Then maybe clear-coat it to protect it from clouding again. I can't see through the plastic, but I'm guessing that middle part is a clock right? I can tell by the winding knob coming out.
That radio sure doesn't look stock, it looks 80s, do you know if they changed the radio? Pop a battery in and I bet you can turn that radio right on and listen to it! Granted rats haven't chewed up the wiring and/or rain water hasn't leaked down into the doors and ruined the speakers.......... you know, speaking of shorted wiring, it might be a good idea to have a little fire extinguisher on hand with her just in case. XD In fact I should get one for Mitzi too. They make little ones that can strap to the steering column.
I assume, but have you looked inside the glove box? Might be treasures.
Also, wow, do the cigarette windows have their own cranks! Now that's fancy.

PFFFF lol hate to hear that? I agree with you man! I think it looks nice! And the fact it's still strong on top of it make me happy I don't have to replace it! As you'll recall I'm more lax on the idea of Patina than you lol as we discovered in that one journal of yours.
lol oh god! Carsplaing! I'm going to need a few Tylenol after that X'D But yeah I find it interesting to see how similar a lot of them look! Of course in that time I think a lot of them were looking for "The Look". We weren't afraid to say what we wanted back then and in those days if it didn't look right people didn't want it. lol so I guess the designers took care to make things look right after they found what people wanted the first time! And that's impressive considering that between Mitzi and Cassandra there's at least a ten year gap considering she's a 50s car and Cass is a late 60s!
I wouldn't trust to pop it out. I accidentally scratched her Speedometer with a piece of paper so I think if I popped it, it'd crumble. HOWEVER, after going over that stuff with some baby oil it looks much more clear. I'm wondering if I give it a few more treatments if that won't cure it of the cloudy look. lol and yes it is! Even though she doesn't have a battery I actually set it the last time I was up there.
Yeah I don't think the Radio is stock. Maybe the original one died? That or the guy on the car lot slapped in a new radio while she was there to help move her off the lot faster. I recall that Buddy had told me while he didn't remember the exact number, her price for him was "Too good to be true" And yeah I think those speakers are as good as gone with the condition of the doors and the rubber moldings. Rats I don't think are that big of a problem for her. I know if anything there's been foxes around her because Miss Angela said she used to see them running up and down the roads around this area years ago.
lol my friend, there IS no glove box. I got the glove box door to open and you can reach straight through to the floor.
lol they do, but someone must've been a bit cockeyed when they put them in because on the Driver's side door they're backwards!! They put the little one for the main window and the big one on the wing!

Oh really now? You didn't seem oh so fine with patina when I was talking to you about it. /: )
Oh yes, here come the car feminists man.. they're gonna getya! Well true, car makers are always going to copy what works even if they don't want to admit it. I don't quite agree with you on the idea that modern people don't sway car designers though. I mean look at how Mazda is over-compensating now after everyone laughed at their grinning mazdas.

Oh yes. Mitzi and Cassandra span the pre and post Violet birth decade. : 3
Honestly I didn't mean literally popping it out. You'd most likely have to remove the whole dash cluster then they'd probably just fall out. But wow they're really that brittle huh? Well if what you're doing seems to be working by all means.
LOL what was I thinking, a radio with a cassette player? Of course it wasn't stock! If anything it would probably be an 8-track player at that time right? I mean cassette came out earlier but I think they took off pretty slow didn't they? I bet at that time unless it was special ordered they probably came still with radio only at that time.
Well that's good I guess... don't think you have to worry about Foxy nomming your wiring.. also just gotta make sure Cassandra hasn't been felching any mice up her tailpipe too. ARMAGEDDON!
O_o .... rrr.. are there any pieces of it nearby. lol or is it just GONE lol.
Wait so you mean the knobs are different on the driver door then the passinger door? XD

lol now I'm going to need to check XD
>.< Oh god, car Feminism! Greeeeeeeeat just what we need! Felicity get out of here! And sorry brosky the second link doesn't work. lol but I personally like how happy and excited the Mazdas look!!
Hopefully it IS working! I still need to get in there to check to see if it made a lasting difference or not because I haven't been able to with the storms. I don't want to have that piece of crap tarp get annihilated by the wind.
I think they were in steady competition for awhile and I could've sworn 8-track came out first. But yeah I think it looks newer than the rest of her.
X'D OH MY GOD!!! NO YOU DID NOT JUST REFERENCE THAT!!!! IAN WHY!!!!!!!!!?
lol dude it is 100% no longer in this plain of existence!
lol yep! Same cranks for the windows, it's just backwards to the way it is on the other door.

You DO that.
Felictiy's gonna come get ya, you misogynistic pig! Oh yes, the link works. FA does this sometimes where it breaks the link. You just have to manually copy the link and past it up there in the address bar and remove that space FA pointlessly added in there.
Storms huh? Glad Cass has that blanket then. You know while you still bash Harbor Freight, that car garage I built from there is still in great condition!
Wikipedia says cassettes came out in 1962 and 8-track came out in 1967. But like I said, the public releases may have been slower for one of them.
LOLL! YES YOU GOT THE REFERENCE!! >XD
What... what the fuck? A-and you're sure you're opening the glove-box and not some random something else? Like it's not hidden in the wonderfully 60s artistically designed dashboard?
That's GOTTA be intentional for SOME reason!

Huh, well that blows. I never knew FA did that! Though that kind of reminds me of that stupid thing DA did where they changed it so that when you put in a URL address it didn't just simply say LINK all neat and tidy like.
Is Kansas super windy or stormy like FL? Because if it's any good I'll have to get it for her when I move her down here to the house.
Yes, I did, lol now I need the mind bleach.
lol yes dude, I'm absolutely sure. I opened up the glove box (the light is still there, reached up from underneath it, and waved at my dad through the empty hole to show him it was no longer there. There is no glove box at all.
lol I think they just came loose or something and some attendee at the sales lot just slapped them back on quickly and carlessly.

No I don't. I get to their website and the website says 404. I think they might've just removed the image.
lol ah well maybe it's just under more stress here in Florida.
XD I'm not sure! Maybe someone removed the glove box at some point in it? I have no earthly idea as to why! I highly doubt it rotted out entirely or anything like that. The little light inside to illuminate the glove box's inside is still there but like, if you look into it it's just the metal housing and some wires. It's literally gone.

Aww that's sad! lol they make them look so upset!!
lol and no I haven't. I think I mentioned it when I saw it for the first time but neither of us dwelt on it. I'm going to have the wires though because I know in the 65 if you weren't careful when taking apart the glove box and one of those wires touched the housing it'd ground out the light and pop a fuse.

Oh! Why hello again! Huh, I thought it was a three speed! You seem like quite the knowledgeable fellow! Thanks! I'll do a little more research into it and update everyone when I get more concrete information. lol and I'll be sure to keep an ear our for a whining sound! This is all very very handy information!
