This was kind of an interesting experiment for me. I really don't do technical drawing much, I tend to fail at it and can't draw straight lines and smooth circles to save my life. But (for some geeky reason) a few weeks ago I decided to invent a car company, designing various models for it. And I really wanted to get at least one of their models down on paper so solidify the image of what sorts of designs they used. So the idea finally occurred that I could cheat, sort of. Using a photo of a Mazda RX-8, I traced over the main lines of the car in a seperate layer to get the general proportions right, then went about changing features and details to be what I wanted. So I should stress that this was NOT done completely freehand, it was partially traced from a photo, but there is plenty of original work in here too, and the coloring is all my own.

So, pictured here is the Cloudburst SDRT, a midsize sports coupe from StarDragon Automotive. The SDRT badge stands for StarDragon Racing Team, signifying that this top trim level version has been specially tuned and enhanced for performance.

Overall shape owes heavily to the Mazda RX-8, while the grille I think suggests Audi, and the rear wheel arches and forward sweep of the grille suggest Dodge a little.
