Off to epic adventures! (-^.=.^-)
Welcome to "Pokémon Quest: Journey of the Cursed King". You play as the awfully familiar hero, a loyal guard of the royal house Trodain as you escort your king, the Pignite Trode and his beautiful Vulpix daughter Princess Medea.
After an evil Mr.Mime-Jester named Dhoulmagus used a curse to wrap all of the castlegrounds in thick thorns and transformed the king and his daughter, now turned into a Seismitoad and Rapidash, the princess even deprived of her voice, you do search for a way to find the evil curse wielding fiend and a cure to return king and land to their original forms.
On your travels through the world you get also joined by strong friends like Yangus the Quilladin, world's greatest bandit, the enchanting as adventurous Jessica the Braixen and the womanizing templar knight Angelo the Furfrou. And our hero even has a cool sidekick, the little Dedenne Munchie who always helps him out.
All our courageous adventurers embark on this quest joining their forces to finally being able to hopefully stop Dhoulmagus' from spreading more fear throughout the land. So set forth, visit locations of great cities, deep dungeons and temples, caves and wonderous places. Find secrets and treasures, use alchemy to create new equipment and take on all the challenges this game offers to you.
Soon on your Funtendo 3DS. (~.=.o)
Tehehe, what if Shiny was in this amazing RPG called "Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King"? I loved this game when it originally came out on PlayStation 2! The world always felt so open and grand to me. You really do visit a lot of cool places and the characters and voice acting was very likable in my book at least.
Not to forget the great monster designs by Akira Toriyama(known for his most popular work "DragonBall") and the amazing soundtrack(main theme hidden behind link above), both so enchanting and giving this fantasy RPG such a cool atmosphere.
I can only highly recommend people who might have passed the original release to buy the Nintendo 3DS remake of this absolutely gorgeous game. I can definitely say it belongs to one of my absolute fav RPGs ever and I'm superhappy that I will be able to replay it now also on the go on one of my most fav handhelds. =D
Sure thing I had this on my art wishlist of fanarts with me lil Totodile mascot. Thanks a bunch to the amazing Kanokawa (visit his tumblr) for this supercool artwork of Hero and Munchie played by Shiny and his lil Dedenne sidekick. Kanokawa does lotsa beautiful fanarts for video game characters and manages so well to capture the dynamic and epicness in their poses. It's so nice how Shiny's outfit with the typical ♪ bearing neckerchief became here the head bandana of the game's protagonist. The two friends also look cute in this art which nicely presents them in a fitting map design backdrop that people might remember from the main menu design of the game.
There actually is another cool fanart still, go watch it here. But for now I hope you enjoyed my little edited description of what this RPG is all about. I cannot help but imagine that it would be way cool if one future Pokémon game would play kinda like this one or take notes from it when it comes to world environmental design. <X3
Shiny belongs to me while
Totodile and Dedenne belong to Nintendo / GameFreak & The Pokémon Company
The outfit designs and Dragon Quest belong to Level-5 / Square-Enix / Yuji Horii, Akira Toriyama and co.
original game published on PlayStation 2, Android and Nintendo 3DS

Totodily! I'm not sure how much you enjoy RPGs outside of Pokémon but this one was way cool in my opinion. I had such a ball back then and was always wondering what if Pokémon would be more like that game. X3
To name one example the hero runs around the plains between the different locations and in the meanwhile you always hear the noises of the horse and cart traveling with you. If you want to with the press of a button you turn around to find all your party members who you can talk with(it's sorta like the feature in HG/SS with your first party Pokémon). Would be cool to travel that way as a group inside your Pokémon games and so having several main characters. =D

VIII is my absolute fav game and I must admit, I couldn't enjoy the other games in the series just as much. Don't know but in this one all the ideas and design choices simply fit together so well.
So far I played through IX (it's really more of a multiplayer game and the final stretch of it was just oddly grindy all of the sudden), started on IV, V and VI(this one annoyed me really much because of a really stupid ingame leveling mechanic that screwed me basically over) from which I liked IV and V in the same way as the older "Final Fantasy" titles but probably not just as much, and I played the Monster Joker games which were also alright. =3
Based on all that I can say that I do enjoy the typical world designs, characters and classic adventures in the different fantasy worlds with Dragons and such. And I have high hopes for "Dragon Quest XI" which looks gorgeous already(but I still like the main character's design from VIII a lil bit more, hehe. X3).

V has something really interesting with that progressing timeline thing. I am looking forward to experience more of it. Still have to play VII as well. =3
I'm sure they will bring it overseas. They surely want it to be as successful as the Final Fantasy titles. Plus it's a main series entry. We might not have gotten the Monster Joker remaster from a while ago but they simply need to bring this one over. X3

Hehe, well, yes. That's what I put in the description, too. The artist's name was Akira Toriyama and the character you meant was Angelo. But it's typical for Toriyama's designs that characters here and there have the same facial features. It's pretty much like how he imagines certain personalities, I guess. <X3
Me is just enjoying to mix cool things and cute stuff into some happy concept ideas. ;3

Whopps, I think you missed the reply button in my post there. <X3
Funny thing: There have been several Dragon Quest anime in the past. I tried to watch as many as I could find though tough chance finding a complete listing of all episodes of any of those series. Really a shame in my opinion.

Oh my! You're a Dragon Quest fan!? It's very hard to find one. (Most of my friends go for Final Fantasy)
I played every main series from 1-9, waiting for 11 now (10 is online so I can't make it) Plus some spin-off. Consider being a diehard fan beside Pokemon
For the picture, It's very nice adaption indeed! First glance, I think you got a new costume for some JRPG adventure. But looks closely...And hey! that's main protagonist from DQVIII.
PS. Such coincident. I'm on the way drawing your request yesterday but I choose very simple idea. Looks like I must try again in DQ theme. Not sure what's number of DQ series you'd ever play but I've got some random idea now.

Oh, neato. I like both series myself. They are fun the way they are created and Dragon Quest has also likable mascots like the Slime. Played the first Slime Adventures game with those big tanks on the DS which was also amusing. =3
Hehe, Shiny is definitely a character I enjoy to put into costumes from games I like. Take for example another amazing game by Enix called "Terranigma" would also make a nice outfit to take that game's Protagonist's clothes and put them on Shiny. Plus, I think Shiny is somebody who'd love to cosplay. =D
Btw, I chose this particular outfit because it's my fav Dragon Quest game.
Oh, that's sweet but like said if you can think of anything your character and Shiny could do together I am happy for him to join into. As long as the artwork would be General rated, a fun and cute art and you'd enjoy doing it I'd feel gifted and flattered already, Benz. X3

Well, reason is they held both titles off for a longer while and people were asking Square-Enix lotsa times to release them internationally. When they finally got here the time span between both became rather short. Might be because they hope to catch in lotsa fans and so get people excited for Dragon Quest XI. X was an online RPG so I guess we have better chances with XI which is still in developement.
It's solid, yes, but VIII gives you even more to enjoy alongside with it. You see your characters during battles, everything is so expressive. I dig that still so much. I don't know much about X except you can choose a class and fight in MMORPG style. Not sure how much Dragon Quest is still in that one except the style.
Happy you enjoy though. Need to get into VII at some point myself. =3

Oh definitely, I live for cool battle animations. DQX is surprisingly pretty close to the regular Dragon Quest style! The battle system looks a little weird though, like a mix between turn-based and real time combat. It'd be interesting to try out, nonetheless. Oh, since it's on the 3DS now, VII will be easy to get now, yeah. :3c
Hihi, yeah, I found his helmet's look fit either Quilladin or a chubby Chespin best somehow. =3
I can definitely recommend to check out Kanokawa#s other arts in that case. There are lots of beautiful fanarts at his DA and tumblr.
Me is Marc by the way. Some also call me Shiny or Totodude just like my lil mascot. Nice to meet you. ^_^

Oh, that's okay, Guv. I have understanding for my dudes to have daily duties here and there. I appreciate every friendly reply no matter at which time it arrives. If you feel like needing any support or just someone to listen to you feel free to write me again. X3
It sure is great for that you get both additional information about where Eight's powers come from as well as offering a fun cosmetical reward for beating it. I was superproud when I got that cool armor set in the PS2 version of the game. I admittedly do 't have beaten all that many optional bosses in RPGs (Final Fantasy - they crank them up to the extreme; Kingdom Hearts ll - what kind of patterns are those coated guys using; Argh!) but I found the trials and post content very fun.
