20 years ago, renting from my folks (a decade before that was "hip"), there was a squirrel in the neighborhood that would sprawl-out just outside the screen door and "talk" with my folks' cat. It would chitter at the cat and the cat would meow/purr back. This would go on for 5 or 10 minutes and then the squirrel would head on its way. Almost a daily occurrence in the summer.
