Alright finally got some time to sit down and do Snapper's actual species! This is mostly a variation/ref sheet tbh.
-Size-
Shoulder height: 4-7 feet.
Body length: 10-18 feet.
Weight: 200-600 Lbs.
-Description-
Denticus are large carnivorous synapsid like animals that primarily live in open, water centered habitats. They are very heavily muscled and have a stocky build, but are surprisingly fast on their feet. They are mostly colored in cool colors and are mostly grey aside from brightly colored markings on the scaled portions of their body. Said brightly colored markings are used to display health/sexual maturity, the duller the scales the less healthy the Denticus. They have big, fluffy webbed paws and big claws for making their way over wet, rocky areas or otherwise unstable areas. One notable feature is the spines along their back which can either be scaled protrusions or fins or single colored spines, they mostly don't do anything besides be used for display.
-Behavior-
Most love to spend their time fishing and swimming, though some can live in drier areas there are generally more of them in water rich areas due to their preferred prey being fish. They usually hunt by standing in running water and snapping up whatever comes along, but can swim or chase down other prey. Most of what they hunt is a good deal smaller than themselves and wont pursue larger, more dangerous prey unless smaller animals are unavailable. They are somewhat territorial, but wont move to chase off others unless there is a shortage of food and even so they wont actually fight unless there is no clear stronger individual. Generally as long as they are full they are docile and social animals, who are very curious when it comes to strangers and other species.
Alright that's what I've gotten so far. I'm making like a subspecies/markings sheet to go along with this. If there is any other questions feel free to ask!
