Had this idea when I was brainstorming with my good friend
Seritaph via MSN a few days ago. A cute, nerdy hyperintelligent mouse sciencist named Bea guilds a time mashine in her lab, a first test run leads her to the Pleistocene where she saves the life of a smilodon girl that is about to drown in a river. The big (very big) smilodon cutie named Teela is of course very gratefull and friendly ( oh, very, VERY friendlyindeed!) and from now on loyal as a puppy to Bea. Bea decides that it would not hurt the time line if she takes Teela home to the present, after all she would have died for sure if she wouldn´t have saved her and would have been out of history anyway. Back at home Bea learns surprised that Teela is extremely intelligent too, despite beeing a prehistoric troglodyte. Teela learns perfect Oxford english in two days, to write and read in another one, five more langlauges in another day and masters mathemathics and natural sciences in a matter of hours. She is able to easyly grasp the most diffiicult concepts in seconds (Well, she DOES have a huge brain in that huge skull of hers)... So Bea decides to make her her assistant. Who knows which adventures will await them?

Wow, thats actually an interesting premise, not to mention a good basis to indeed, spring a series of adventures. I mean, Time Travel, whats not to like...
Still, quite an intriguing product of a brainstorm, Al...especially the turn on the classic "thick cave person" cliche that is common in time travel works.
