An alternate logo for the Furry Basketball Association. For a while I was wondering if I should make an FBA for females (WFBA? FFBA?), but then I realized when it comes to furry, there's no reason why the FBA can't be coed!
This time I did draw the character, which was a previously unused drawing I made of
babsbunny Turns out, the girl's got sick hops!

Yeah, between the two names, I prefer WFBA, too. But I like the idea of the FBA being a very inclusive league. I know on the mucks, I'm always running into 6 foot + vixens and tigresses, so it would seem a little unnecessary to have a separate league.
They just need to figure out how to deal with furs that can fly or those that are 20 feet tall

That is a good idea! With so many species of furs, I would like to imagine that female furs would have the same chance of having an equal skill set and strength of a male fur, especially considering in many species, the female is the stronger one.
But what would the locker rooms be like? And would there be relationship drama within the workplace? Yikes!

Hey B-Hop! I had a random idea regarding the logo...
I was wondering who "The Logo" is in the FBA (like Jerry West in the NBA) and I thought it was Babs Bunny...
BUT...
Since Tobu is writing up a Hall of Fame for the FBA, I think Babs Bunny (or whatever name this character would have in the FBA) should be included as a legend, so the league has a real history regarding the logo!
My questions surrounding this are...
Who was the previous "Logo"? Was it the same since the beginning of the league?
When was this Logo debuted as the official logo of the FBA? And when did Babs (or whoever the character is) play basketball? A good point was made that the decision for the league to become fully co-ed and include good prey species was not that long ago. So there has to be some spot in history around that time where Babs excelled as one of the better players... or if not, what is her significance that caused her to become used as the Logo? Was she the first female baller that accomplished anything in the league? The first lapine? Both?
Sorry, just randomly jumped in my mind, and I was curious. ^^

Those are great questions, JT, and crazy thing is, questions like those jump in my mind all the time. I've got answers for you.
First off-- the simple answer?
The current FBA logo is just a dumb thing I slapped together because I had some unused art lying around.
Honestly, I had wanted to replace it before the season began, but I never found the time to sit down and draw a new logo. I want the logo to feature Healey Davis, but the season began before I could do any artwork to draw him, so-- I was stuck using what really was just a temp piece I had slapped together. Honestly, I kind of prefer the older squar-ish logo I had before, but the problem was that the art wasn't mine. At least with this logo, I drew that unused picture of Babs.
Now, me being the re-writer of history that I am, I did come up with an explanation for this logo.
First of all, from the start, the FBA was always a co-ed and all-species league. That was the whole thing that separated it from every other basketball league at the time. Back in 1961, there were all-male leagues, all-female leagues, predator leagues, prey leagues-- lots of basketball leagues, but all of them separated because it was just assumed you could never have a fair league with males and females, predators and prey playing together. But being the radical 60's, change was in the air and a handful of crazy sports enthusiasts got together to create the first all-inclusive basketball league. That was the FBA.
Now, just because the league was always that on the books doesn't mean that it didn't have trouble maintaining that image. The very first years of the FBA had a good mix of predator and prey species, but was wildly bent toward male players. Even to this day, the league struggles with mostly males on the rosters, but back then it was especially bad. Babs Bunny was the first female player of truly superstar significance in the league, and was instrumental in proving that women could compete with men in the FBA.
As time rolled on, things changed in the FBA. The success of the Howlers ushered in an age of predator dominance, with teams actively recruiting the biggest, most bloodthirsty carnivores they could. It also meant even less attention paid to female players. The new direction of the FBA did keep bringing in the fans-- it was well managed with good teams, and the Howlers did a fantastic job marketing themselves and growing their Montana fanbase. But after years of predator-dominated rosters, growth stagnated and began to dip as the last prey-animal fans began to forget about their old heroes and stop paying attention.
That woke up the league offices who then quickly began a huge campaign to reform the FBA's image. A big part of that was 1995 with the formation of teams in rural areas and an active effort to bring prey species back into the draft. It also meant bringing back women, so in the late 90's, the FBA logo was redesigned to show off Babs Bunny, one of the early great female prey-species ballers. And with time, the FBA rebuilt into the league it is today.
So, Babs Bunny is absolutely a Hall of Famer. I don't see her as the first lapine in the league, nor the first female, but she was the first female superstar. Old-time FBA fans remember her, but they also remember how the league was when it was truly mixed-- then became predator-dominated-- and are delighted to see it mixed again. And with megastars like B-Hop and Zip-Nut being arguable the best players in the L, most think prey species are here to stay.

I actually really like this logo! I don't think it needs to be changed, so long as there is a good explanation for it being chosen! It may have been a temp piece thrown together, but we see what happens when an initial idea is thrown together and it's left to fester and grow into something bigger. ;)
When did Babs Bunny play? The 1970's? I imagined her as being a sort of Jackie Robinson figure for female ballers, but since she wasn't the first female baller, maybe she could be the first female MVP of the league (in 1972? When the Taproots won the championship? I envisioned Babs being on the Taproots, since her character is owned by the same person who made Cheetopup). I see her as being one of the pioneers of exceptional female play in the FBA, so her playing in the 70s makes sense. Of course she could have played in the late 80s too, near the end of the Howlers' dominance (there is that 4 year period 1987-1990 where the Taproots won twice with the Howlers winning the last of their championships in between those two times).
Since the logo was redesigned to feature her in the late 90's, she could have played during either of those times, but would have just retired, or still been playing in the 90s when the logo came out. Maybe she retired the year before the new logo, with the timing of the release of the logo coinciding with that to honor her efforts in moving the league back towards equality between genders and pred/prey. Or the early 70s Babs makes sense too, and probably more sense if we're talking Legends of the league and the earliest pioneers of the sport. She definitely needs to have her stats and story created to include in the Hall of Fame! :)
