So here I am, once again. If you’re beginning to think that Tzin is a solar eclipse or the approach of a comet, you wouldn’t be so far away from the truth: both are quick while they last, they take a lot of time to happen and you really only hear about them when they have just passed. The only difference is that celestial bodies are truly majestic and worth the wait and my art… well… *cough* not“so much *cough*
Lets talk about something else!
So this is another of my all too well known way overdue trades with artist I really admire. This time with the kind and ever so patient
fattydragonite [Edit Jan 17th, 2017] whose part you can find right here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/22319872/
He’s someone I really look up to given how much time and effort he dedicates to his pics (which are amazing, you should go watch him immediately) and how much he has improved in such a short amount of time. I am sure that he will only keep getting better and better with each of the wonderful pics he makes. So please consider taking a good look at his gallery. I’m pretty sure if you like my stuff, you’ll be quite intrigued by his skills handling the flab!
Anyway. This an approximation to what he asked me for, His Dragonite (Luke) and myself (Tzin) all dressed up in full winter gear ready to eat a massive sundae. I took the freedom to add a tiny story as I often like to do for my pics, in part to make up for the excessive time it takes me to finish an image, and in part because his character is just so likable and fun to write about. Special appearance from the one and only five-eyed serpentine spirit and professional belly-rubber
psychicimmortality (A.K.A. Aaron)
So join us in this adventure, be sure to tell me any feedback you might have about the pic. I’d love to hear your opinion.
“I told you we should have taken a left instead of a right after that coffee shop, Luke!” The feathered crest raising over a sandy dune under the blazing midday sun exclaimed, only to fall exhausted to the ground with a muffled thud immediately afterwards. The motion caused a cloud of grains to dance in the warm updraft, creating a small dust devil that quickly faded in the wind. The dragon laying in the sand was mildly annoyed by the scorching temperature of the floor, but not enough to overcome the pain and fatigue coming from his sore limbs. He couldn’t give another step. This was by far the most active he had ever been in such a small period of time since he had to sprint to the all-you-can-eat buffet two years ago. And now he severely regretted both episodes of his life.
Not too far behind, the crunching and churning of the sand and a few dried-out twigs came to a stop, as the huffing and puffing from the source grew heavier. “No, Tzin, you have to trust me. I am pretty sure I left it somewhere nearby. We are close. I can feel it.” The Dragonite assured, panting at least half a dozen times as he said it, partly because of the accomplishment of moving around such an impressive bulk, and partly because of the thick coat that he wore with pride and which he rarely removed. It was a mystery how he could be conscious when the temperatures under that brown jacket seemed to boil away the seat dripping down his thick neck.
“ ¡¡Dios mio!! I swear I’m going to die here. This is it.” The dramatic Mexican dragon cried out loud, stretching his wobbly arm forwards as if reaching out in front of him somehow managed to place himself closer to salvation. The wheezing coming from his ample chest pressing against the bright surface of sand in the middle of the desert caused him to regret for the millionth time his current outfit, but then again he at least thanked the heavens that he didn’t choose a fluffy coat like the one concealing the Dragon Type’s bulk.
He could feel the beads of sweat forming in his forehead, and running down his temples. Yet the thought of removing the blue scarf only brought back the vivid memory of him solemnly promising and swearing not to remove any item from his winter gear out of sheer solidarity with Luke. The Dragonite really liked that brown coat, and wouldn’t shed it even if his life depended upon it. So the least Tzin could do was to soldier on and ignore the waterfall of perspiration that was already soaking his feathers.
Both of the dragons’ throats felt dryer than the sand under their bodies, and their faces had acquired a permanent squint, to shield their eyes from the intense glare of the furnace-hot surface of the arid landscape. Finally closing his eyes, Tzin started loosing consciousness, and everything seemed to occur in slow motion. The only sounds filling the vast expanse of nothingness around them were the heavy breathing of them both, the rustling of their thick clothes and Luke’s steps on the loose sand of the dunes, until suddenly…
*clang*
A very distinct metallic sound resonated in the green dragon’s mind, yet he refused to open his eyes. He refused to believe it had been real. It couldn’t be. Could it? He awaited another sound, but only the distant thump of his heartbeat served as a somewhat bitter reminder that he was still alive. And just when he was about to disregard the noise as an auditory mirage he began sensing a change in the Dragonite’s attitude.
*rustle rustle*
That was Luke’s jacket having trouble covering his beach ball of a belly as he shifted his upright position. He could already see him having to tug on the sides of it to cover his tan scales, only to give up immediately afterwards, leaving his overhang clearly exposed for everyone to see… well, there wasn’t a large audience in the middle of the desert anyway. The strained fabric continued it’s symphony for what seemed like ages to the laying creature. Then it stopped.
*ahem!*
That was Luke. His voice sounding coarser and raspier than usual, after spending so long without sipping on his iconic extra-large milkshake cup. Tzin knew the Pokemon’s tone, but couldn’t afford to comply and open his eyes. Even that seemed too much of a strain. Far too much. And yet, somehow…
The inexorably bright wave of light that flooded the feathered dragon’s retina was painful enough to jolt him up from the ground, energizing his arms through the sheer adrenaline rush to cover his poor eyes from the unbearable luminescence from his desolate surroundings. Not only had the motion caused his arms to respond but his legs had also received enough energy to hold him upright in a single flowing pirouette, of which even the most agile cat and the most experienced ballerina would have been equally envious.
A minute later, after his retina had stopped displaying a myriad of phosphenes, which left the poor dragon dizzy and completely disoriented, the scene came into focus. The massive Dragonite in front of him held a tiny brass oil lamp (to be completely fair, though, everything in his hands seemed tiny). He observed it with a strange familiarity, as if he was looking at an old friend rather than an inanimate object. The scene was too bizarre for Tzin to fully understand what was happening. It didn’t made sense that they went out looking for a buried trinket in the middle of the desert so that they could… what? rub it and wish for salvation? Expect a genie to grant them three wishes? Magically be spared of the layers upon layers of clothes??
And yet…
Some rubbing the Dragonite did, carefully with his broad hands. The lamp was so small that it was hard focusing on it even from the place where the green dragon was standing. Luke stood there motionless, as a seemingly inexplicable gust of dry, sand-paper-y air ruffled Tzin’s feathers, creating some dust devils that swirled and danced around in the otherwise calm scene. Then nothing.
And just when the dragon was about to fall down in utter frustration, a thin, purple mist began to float near the tip of the lamp. Hard to see at first, the cloud began growing and growing, not only in size but also in density, as it materialized into a long and stylized figure that slithered in the air, not unlike the vapor right above a cup of coffee in a cold winter morning. The ascending vaporous entity also became more and more detailed, loosing its ethereal aspect and acquiring the more real and solid-looking shape of a snake. A bright, flashy, floating snake covered in the most intense gleaming violet color Tzin had ever seen in his life.
Not only that, but as the creature’s details refined, Tzin could observe the face of the serpent, who was staring down at him with five terrifyingly gentle and warm eyes. Five.
If it wasn’t for his lack of physical condition, and the general unfitness of the Mexican dragon, a prolonged scream would have escaped his maw at the sight. Instead he was frozen solid. Even amidst hot desert sand. Unable to move, and refusing to do so in the presence of such an imposing presence. He could only stare back and wonder… was the snake smiling?
“Aaron!! Good to see you again!! It’s been quite a while!” Luke said breaking the silence, causing the ethereal reptile to turn around and coil around the tubby Dragonite. “It’s so good to see you! You’re looking as majestic as ever!”
“Well, you’re the one to speak, my scaly friend! I’t looks like you haven’t been a stranger to the all-you-can-eat buffet in town, am I right?” The spirit coiled tighter around the Pokemon’s middle, casing his belly rolls to sag over Aaron’s elongated body.
“Well, you know me… I can’t refuse a good, mayonnaise-covered Frikandellen!” The overweight Dragon-type replied chuckling and patting his pillowy abdomen. “In fact I could use some food right now… I’m starving!”
“Oh yes!! How improper of me… We’ve engaged in all this chitter-chatter, and I forgot the very reason I’m here in the first place… ahem… Luke, is there anybody you would like to present me?”
The fatty Dragonite had to think for a bit before finally acknowledging the still parallysed —and equally lardy— dragon standing a few steps away from him.
“Right… I’m so sorry. Aaron, this is Tzin, my easily-impressed friend and buffet partner.” The Dragonite waddled right up to the petrified dragon’s body and shook him gently, trying to bring him back to his senses. “He might be a great chemist, but magic is still hard for him to understand. Just give him some time. He’s usually livelier than this”, the Pokemon said to the purple spirit, who offered the very same welcoming smile that so iconically represented him.
The serpent loomed over the static hispanic dragon, waving the tip of his tail in front of his face in a futile attempt to snap the him out of his daze, but to no avail. It seemed like the shock was far too much for his mind to process and just blue-screened completely after the overload of mixed signals, excessive clichés and unhindered fantasy. Aaron couldn’t blame him though. He had seen far worse reactions to the appearance of a large five-eyed snake spirit before. If anything, the green dragon’s reaction was remarkably mellow… maybe a consequence of his excessive levels of exhaustion...
…speaking of which!
“So Luke, my dear friend and current non-magical master, what shall your hear desire at this very instant? What whims shall I satisfy at this hour? Your desire is my utter and absolute command!” And with that the snake made a prolonged and extremely pronounced bow, which almost caused him to place his face in the sandy ground under their feet. Aaron held the position for a few seconds only to return to his natural position with a deliberately slow motion, resembling the last vapors rising from an evaporating puddle. His coils floated in the air, sending endless beams of refracted light bouncing off of his gem-like scales all around the dunes and into the eyes of the corpulent companions.
A light hum escaped though the Dragonite’s lips. His chubby hand held his double chin while he thought deeply. He could wish for nearly anything in the Universe. The power of the spirit was nearly boundless as far as the Pokemon was concerned, and yet, the endless possibilities seemed to overwhelm him completely. What was he supposed to ask for? A number of cliché wishes scrolled right in front his eyes but none were quite appealing enough for him: World peace? A gazillion dollars? Global Fame? A sports car? A yacht? Nah… that wasn’t something he actually desired. What was something he could really use right now?
“Oh!! I know!!” He said after his sudden realization, Tzin still staring blankly at the unfolding scene in front of him. “Oh, great Aaron, I wish that using your supreme powers and your endless generosity, you grant me in this very moment with the largest, sweetest and coldest chocolate sundae in the world… And come to think of it, make it double, so my friend here can enjoy it as well, would you? How’s that for a start?”
“As you please, my honorable master!” And with a puff of ethereal purple mist and some sparkling, which has hard to distinguish under the bright afternoon sun, the place where Aaron was floating was instantly replaced with a glass vase filled to the brim with the thickest and most succulent-looking ice cream dessert, easily towering above both of the dragons, completely covered under a massive layer of the richest chocolate fudge and crowned by a cherry the size of a beach-ball. As soon as it appeared, the coolness coming from the dessert sent soothing breezes of sweet-scented, chilly air, enticing both dragons even further to approach the effigy of salvation and temptation.
Tzin still in awe, was far too slow for the plan Luke had already weaved in his mind. Since the sundae was far too big to eat conventionally, he would use the feathered dragon as a prop to heave himself up from the ground and reach into the delicious treat; headfirst, why not? Not like the green drake would mind carrying a few more pounds on his frame after all. And it would be worth it since after he finished his half of the sundae, then Tzin could eat up the remaining partially-thawed out sundae… perfectly foolproof!!
Right?
As foolproof as it seemed, turns out, the Dragonite was far less agile to climb on top of the dumbfounded and slightly annoyed Mexican dragon, and he himself was less willing to have a ton of blubber compressing his poor, heated-up and exhausted body… but alas, he had found the lamp. It was his right as the master of the wish-granting entity, who perhaps would be the one to spare them from any more suffering in that horrid desert.
“Remind me again… when exactly am I going to eat my part of the sundae, huh, Luke?” The dragon said providing a trembling support for the feet and the underbelly of the colosal Dragon-type.
The Dragonite failed to answer right away and instead, pulled out his handy emergency-spoon and proceded to remove his mittens, so he would carve and dig his way into the dessert with much more ease. “Well, Tzin… now that I think about it, I don’t think I’m strong enough to lift you up like that… so… I might as well eat the whole sundae by myself and then we can wish for another one, just for you!!” He replied with the chirpy tone of a kid who has just received the largest present on Christmas, shoveling the first heaping spoonful of dripping gooey glory into his mouth, before adding, “after all we still have two wishes to go, right?”
Tzin just looked up at his friend hardly able to contain his mouth from drooling and his mind from regretting once again his choice for a wool scarf…
And despite all of that, he wouldn’t want it any other way. Luke, well, he was just being Luke.
Lets talk about something else!

Haha, you caught me red handed, I commented before I read everything XP
Really wanted that first, But anyway. How was the serpent able to extend a hand to you? Serpents normally do not have appendages and Aaron doesn't seem to be an exception.
Also There's a small typo "was was" about five paragraphs from the bottom

Aha!! I did catch you! But that was one sweet comeback you did there, pointing out those slight details. Note everyone is as careful and attentive. I fixed both mistakes (I think), so thanks a bunch for being always so meticulous. I really appreciate it.

Oh my gosh i can't believe how friggin' far you went to make me happy with your part of the trade, upon seeing the sketch i was already sold, and to know you made it into this incredibly ensemble of bright colors, amazing fur textures and clothing folds, and not to mention the phenomenal shading, especially on that cherry~
And talking about the cherry on top, having a very humorous and thought out story to go along with it is just such a treat, thank you so so much ;w; <333

Well, I really had to up my game if I wanted to match your part of the trade. And now that it's already up I'm afraid I'll fall short compared to your trade. Regardless, I enjoyed it a lot, and learned a bunch from drawing all those tight clothes, and that massive sundae. I still have a lot to improve, but... well... you know... one step at a time.
It makes me so glad to see you liked it.
Now if you could just hurry up with that sundae. My arms won't be able to hold you up for much longer!! *trembles and wobbles around*
