Actually, the first several times I draw a character they'll all look different too. It's more of like, "getting the feel" of the character's design and personality, the motor memory of their characteristics and such. It always seems frustrating but it mostly shows you're growing.

yeah, i was asked to draw her in a serious mood for the first on, then a more playful mood for the second so i think it shows a lot :0
now that you point it out, i do draw my own characters more or less the same... i guess i've never though about it that way~!
