I've never felt like this before,/
Your voice is never-ending love/
I was waiting for it for so long./
It fell on me and touched my skin,/
And then I started to remind myself./
Sunk island of my soul, give me signs./
I want to find her so much, and I don't need more time./
I will do everything to make it happen./

“What is this place?” Tyson asked, his voice bouncing off the black walls in inquisitive echoes.
“We’re inside an old way station, Tyson,” Shane confidently answered. “One that hasn’t been in use for untold millennia.”
Then suddenly, before Tyson could speak, twin sparks of bright golden light burst into life around their wrists. The skunk and raccoon stared in wonder as both their artifacts shook through their own volition and whined with a pleasing falsetto. The light they emanated soon grew and consumed both young men and the room itself in a stunning spectacle of light and sound. A thunderous thumping noise filled the chamber’s spacious core. The haze lifted and it revealed an enormous, breathtaking sight in its wake. The pad upon which the two boys stood, and its symbol, was aglow with luminous shades of blue, indigo and violet. The shiny obsidian walls had been replaced with an awe-inspiring, three-dimensional representation of the Milky Way galaxy. In the distance, numerous golden orbs were now floating around them in scenic clusters of gaseous nebulae. Each was a lively, gilded ornament strung across the colorful ether.
Tyson and Shane both gasped as one golden orb materialized directly between them. From what they could tell, the orb detailed what seemed to be continents on its translucent surface. It was an alien world not unlike our own in terms of appearance. That much was undoubtedly determinable. But beyond these geological landscapes was a rather peculiar spectacle. In its center was the ethereal face of a young woman. She was a lynx, and she was laughing joyously. The two boys could even hear the faint ghost of her euphoria wrap around the golden sphere like an indistinct aura.
“It worked,” the skunk stated with silent astonishment. But the longer he inspected the golden orb, the more animated his facial features became. Disbelief soon gave way to joy, but this joyful exhilaration was worlds away from warm and friendly. The grin upon the skunk’s face was fierce in its flagrant ambition. Truthfully speaking, there was a savagery to his smile that Shane’s demonic retainer would not find unfamiliar.
“This door will open,” Shane concluded with a titter. “All we need now are the keys.”
“I guess I was wrong, Trace,” Orrin remarked, hovering over Shane’s body like a smirking, sinister shadow. “We did get some use outta yer boy. Maybe he’s worth keeping alive, after all.”
“Keep your distance, you hear me?” Trace replied, protectively perched over Tyson’s form. “Come anywhere near him, and I’ll kill you all over again.”
“I appreciate the effort, honeybunch. I really do. But we both know you don’t mean a word of that.”
“Then come closer and find out the hard way,” Trace shot back, "if you're so inclined."
“It’s her. But how?” Tyson whispered with incredulity. But that distrust was dashed the longer he lovingly regarded the womanly face within the golden orb. His heart recognized that smiling face, but his head was almost unable to accept it. It was a smile the world had long since forgotten. It belonged to a girl he had not seen in more than a decade. A girl the raccoon once thought he’d never see again.
“It’s Daeja. It’s really her,” he declared, nearly overcome with ecstatic appreciation. “She alive!”
