I couldn't believe it! I got home from work today, and my laptop was here waiting for me!!! SQUEEEE!!!!
Doesn't it look pretty? ^w^
It looks even better than the images on the website! Just look at that back-lit keyboard! I absolutely LOVE the red and blue light! And I LOVE the feel of the case as well (I think it's covered in some kind of rubber or something, but it just feels really nice to the touch, and seems to be fingerprint and smudge resistant!)
Oh, and the screen looks amazing thus far! Of course it has super HD (3840 x 2160 resolution), though I haven't really had a chance to put it to the test yet.
And another cool thing, I finally have a computer with a bluray drive!
Oh yeah, and if I'm planning on not needing the optical drive, but will do something demanding for the computer, the optical drive is removable, and I got an extra fan-operated cooling module that can just slide into the optical drive slot! (although it is not hot-swappable)
But now for the REAL question; Can it preform the way I need it to?
Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to test out the actual performance of the laptop until this weekend, because there were a bunch of updates that needed to be installed, and I have to install all of the software I want to use (you can see in the pic, I was installing Source Filmmaker)
I want to try to stress-test the laptop by running multiple applications at once, like Source Filmmaker, Skullgirls, a media player, and the internet. If it can handle all of that, then chances are that it can handle anything I'll throw at it.
I also am hoping that I can play games like Amnesia again, since that game stopped working on my Toshiba quite a while ago (incapability issues with Intel) Then maybe I can do some "let's play" videos of me getting scared by the monsters? XP
The timing couldn't be any more perfect, since my Toshiba finally died completely last night. I was able to get it to turn on, and got on the internet after the trouble over the weekend, but then, last night, I was getting warning messages that the hard drive was failing, and I couldn't open a single application, not even the image viewer! So getting the new laptop now worked out perfectly!
As for my plans for my Toshiba; it seems that the only real problem is the hard drive failing, so I think I'm gonna try to buy a solid state drive, and see if installing that will fix the computer (though I'll have to get an operating system disk to get it running). If that works, then I think I'll use the Toshiba as a school/work laptop, since my school Dell seems to be having it's own problems (the battery is shot, and the computer has gotten super slow). And the Dell can either be sold, or act as a backup.
Anyway, I must say I am feeling quite pleased right now, which I REALLY needed after dealing with the stress I have been having.
Here's hoping that the computer can perform as well as I am hoping ^^
