My child, though the earth be cast in darkness and danger lurk where shadows lay. Lo that the world crumbles around ye, know that I am with thee. Walk without Fear.


An image and a feeling that I've had in my head for a while now. My kids will soon be old enough to notice what is going on in the world, and it's going to scare them when they realize just how dark of a place it has become. When that time comes, I hope that I can somehow lay those anxieties to rest a little bit so that they may walk through life without fear.

This piece was also largely influenced by a song by the power Metal band Primal Fear, called We Walk Without Fear. I sort of envision this young boy as I listen to the song. His father died in Afghanistan. he sees all the horrible things happening around the world on the television, but he can feel the aegis of his Father's presence, or that of God, or his Patronus or whatever you feel like interpreting the image as. And he boldly marches forward at the climax of the song while the eagle shoot blasts of light into the shadows and melts them away.
