Man I've been rather interested in trying to get into dracostryx but I don't know the basics and if it's anything like Tokotas I simply wouldn't have the will to get too involved with such complexity.
If I ever did get inoto it though, I'd prefer the ones that don't look like owls. They're so damn pretty altogether though. I'm very tempted but shit idk where to begin.

I'd say it's pretty comparable to Takotas, but I've never been a part of Tokotas. You do need to draw three "tributes" before you can breed your stryx, breeding is done via rolling, you can choose a specialty career path for yourself (EG: I was a breeder), you only get so many breeding slots until you earn your stryx different statuses through drawing art, you can participate in events and earn prizes, etc.
For me, it lost it's charm after a year. But I had fun and improved my artwork quite a bit through just being involved with it, so I certainly wouldn't discourage you from giving it a shot! You can adopt a free, plain stryx to get yourself started if you just want to check it out, although you're more likely to do well financially if you buy a well-traited stryx from the get go for breeding purposes. It'll also help a ton with earing AP, since doing all the AP yourself can be a huge undertaking.
If you're interested in getting a stryx, I do have a bunch for sale/trade here, since I've stopped participating and don't have any use for them anymore: http://zielomizu.deviantart.com/jou.....T-GO-641571828

If I ever did get started, I'd prefer getting high traited ones if I could afford it since those special 'high tier' ARPG's seem to have a large amount of profit attached to them. I was trying to use Tokotas as a way to improve my human art, but actually, Draco might help me with both humans and birds/wings in the same fell swoop.
I really enjoy ARPG's for the most part but it has to be such a dedicated thing for me, and I don't have as much time to do personal art for just myself. I do Sabati and some pokemon arpgs but i'm still kinda lacking in activity in both of those, hah.
I'll check out your journal! Thank you!
