A very quick ref I did for a new sona. He's a male saluki. His name is Berkley, but I may change that later. He's extremely flamboyant, very gay, and transgender. I based his coloration partly off the trans flag, although I also decided he should be pink. The simple explanation for that is that, being trans myself, and gay, and reasonably flamboyant, I've become much more butch than I'd really like to be because a flamboyantly gay transman who can't pass very well to begin with gets misgendered CONSTANTLY. Berkley is sort of that side of me, although he's also my shyness and to some degree my insecurity about that. He looks and acts very effeminate, but is very sensitive about being misgendered, though he's usually too passive to correct people unless he knows he'll be seeing them very often. He's also Californian and from a very wealthy family, hence his collar. He loves jewelry, travel, and various expensive things and I'll probably draw him mostly in settings that fit with that lifestyle, if I give the drawings a background at all.
Also, he is FtM transexual, but I'll probably draw him as male most of the time at least until I feel more confident about drawing him with female parts and not having to deal with too many comments mistaking him for a woman. >_>'
Berkley's markings (the stripes) are inspired by thylacines, and his lighter markings are similar to those common in salukis. I might draw his hair/ears longer or shorter than they are here.
PALLETTE NOTE: He has two color palettes because one is his normal colors, but he can fade to a duller color scheme if he's embarrassed, frightened, or uncomfortable.
