Doooo ittttttt!!!!!!
Still lives are alright - as long as they have something you're actually interested in drawing in them :P I have a bunch of them from school that were just the most random things that I had no interest in - I think that's the reason that most people dread them! You put so much more effort into something you WANT to do! ^.^
But yeah, definitely go and start tinkering with it again! It's such a fun form of art! *They've actually got a pretty decent charcoal kit at Walmart for $20*

I shall.
Haha, yeah I remember dreading still lives in school at first, but after grinding with several, it got a bit less grueling and turned into a great way to pass the time. I recall hinting around and inspiring my teacher in high school to use his model of Notre Dame Cathedral for one of our still life subjects...which made a few of the other students a bit cross with me. XD Still, I didn't mind all them flying buttresses. I do agree though, the task is a bit more pleasing if one is interested in the subject matter to begin with.
I've actually got plenty of decent charcoal, I just have to dig it out and start applying it. Working with charcoal reminds me of gardening: Both are messy and satisfying. Or satisfyingly messy might be a better description. Anyhow, I'll quit my rambling now. :)
