You know that voice inside your head? Well, I'd like to introduce you to mine. Say hello, Little Yosh-E-O!
LYEO: *nervous giggle* Hi!
This little fellow is the catalyst of my own, personal "Aura of Protection." The idea behind the Aura is right here...

Simply put, when the world around me begins to collapse and my mind begins to start dealing in darker thoughts, Little Yosh-E-O jumps into the spot-light and begins to pump positive, energetic, and loving thoughts into my head. These sublime suggestions work like a natural drug in ceasing the snowball effect of depression that negative emotions and environ attempt to consume me with. From here, I am able to extend the aura by tapping into my creative talents to "work out" all the troubles and begin my recovery from what could've been a very grey day.
Well, this is my secret to happiness. I'm not going to say it is perfect, but it has proven very effective for me in dealing with depression and scary situations over the past two years.
How about you? What's your secret to telling those bad feelings to go away and leave you alone? You don't need to actually answer this in the comment stream, but I do encourage you to think about it. In these trying times, being able to know you have a failsafe to survive the darkness is a definate plus. ;)

D'awww. He seems so happy snuggling with Toroth. Perhaps, whilst I work on job applications, they can spend some time together? What do you say Little Yosh-E-O?
LYEO: *hums and further snuggles into Toroth*
I think that's a yes. It's certainly more fun than reading job descriptions. <LoL!>

Hehe, I like how he's pointing out and up like, "Let me handle this, boss!"
I'd think a lot of us have someone in our head that'd be good for helping us ithink our thoughts out so we can get better. Maybe others don't think of it as a separate part of themselves, but sometimes when you do separate it out, and give part of you that sorta role, it makes it easier to combat bad feelings. (:
I think Oxnard might have subliminally been mine. I think my senior year of high school was pretty devastating, and I ended up leaving a lot of friends online at the time to clear my head, and once the school year ended I left most of my offline friends too.
It was in this time that I made Oxnard, three years ago. But I don't think I made him to escape from my problems, I just made him so I could have fun, probably in a time where I needed something new and cheerful the most. That's probably why I like him so much. He helped me pull through a tough time and made the years after so much happier. (:
Anyway, you did a great job on this, and I like the idea behind it a lot. :3

I'm glad you liked it, Oxnard. I'm even more glad that you were able to relate to it in such a way. Too often, bad times swallow people up whole. Since terrible things have a tendency to snowball in the mind, they cause individuals to enter depressions they cannot escape that, sadly, become much larger parts of their lives than they need to be as time passes by.
The fact Oxnard brought you such peace is a fantastic thing. It's surprising how just one positive can serve as the pilot light for rekindling one's overall spirit.
As for High School, I can relate with the whole seniior year thing. I was already an outcast and, in my senior year, my best friend and I got into a massive fight that ebbed its way into the lives of our mutual friends. It was truly a dark time. However, like you, I managed to find positives to work with and, from them, managed to salvage what I could of our friendship by the year's end. To be perfectly honest, it was that senior year extravaganza that really "tipped" me into being the cutesy fellow I am today. There really was no turning back after that point.
Overall, I'm just happy that, through the years and our friendship, I have learned to be so much more open-minded, strong, and creative. Being able to express yourself as you are is an amazing thing. It's perhaps another admirable thing that attracts me to your OCs. You just have fun and invite others who are iinterested to partake. No force, no regret, no rambling explanations. 100% genuine. You go, Ox!

Here's pointing those guns at you! haha As far as what do I do, hummmmmmnnnn..... Usually I get down when I think about the immediate future. The long term future looks much better and I am excited for it, just seems to take forever to get here. In the meantime, things are not ideal and you have to deal with stuff on hand. What do I do when this happens, look to the little things that bring me joy. Seeing my mate is usually at the tops of that list but there can be other things such as a furmeet or even eating dinner out one night or something. Just yesterday, getting out and going golfing was really enjoyable and helps keep joy in my life. Everyone is different, I am happy you have your little Yosh-E-O to help you through your rough times. :)
Thanks, Scooter. No doubt times seem extremely rough for many people in the present. Heck, I won't even start into some of the "augh" that's going on here. However, as you noted, it's those happy things that help to re-assure us that times have been better and can be that way again.
Kind of on a twist that my Great Grandmother said, "You've got to feel bad in order to know what feeling good feels like." If everything was peaches and cream all-the-time, we wouldn't appreciate it as much as we do when we are made to endure the hardships of life at random intervals.
On a final note, the fact your mate makes you feel special during such times, along with how such times don't drive wedges between you, really speaks volumes for the relationship. My wife and I have been through TONS and we haven't buckled in our love for each other one bit. It's truly in that "For better or for worse" that you realize you have found someone truly special in your life. Yep, yep, yep!
