My Oz lore is a bit suspect. I'm aware of the silver slippers and ozma for example... but after the first book it's a bit bleah.... but if I'm not mistaken the emerald city isn't emerald. It's just a normal city, and emerald spectacles are required wardrobe to keep up the illusion. No idea what happens later to it but I suspect you kept the film version on purpose because it would not be easily explained? Or did something restore the city to its emerald glory in the novels?

I know that the necessity to wear goggles while you're in the city was quietly phased out after book one.

It wasn't of too much importance to me to make the city really detailed(not at this early stage, at least), but rather to establish it as the beacon of benevolence and safety that I feel it should be.

Later issues will see images of different areas of the city, and I will likely suggest variety. For now, I was happy with the presentation Andrea gave me. :)

It may be fair to say that the dominant building of the city is the Royal Palace, and that would at least bear the signature emerald color. :)
