RIP Carrie Fisher
News broke while I was getting my tires fixed, I was stunned, just like everybody else. I was hoping the Force would be with Carrie and she'd pull through after her heart attack a few days ago.
Sadly we lost her. I watched Carrie in action when Star Wars debuted in 1977, I was enthralled with this young actress who had guts. She wasn't the typical Damsel in Distress, She kicked ass. I'd like to think she paved the way for strong female roles in todays films.
I also loved her in the Blues Brothers, as Jake's angry ex.
May the Force be with you, always, Carrie.

Both her and Sigourney Weaver paved the way for the "Badass women that can kick ass and still look sexy while doing it" sub-genre of films, only they did it right. I heard the news from my mother that she passed away, and the Star Wars fandom is forever dimmed from her absence.
She may be gone, but she will live on in our hearts forever.

Gaah, I heard it when somebody on FM blurted it out, might've been The Sack.
She definitely changed the way that female leads were shown in films, even predating Sigourney Weaver's Elenore Ripley in 'Alien'.
EDIT:
Oh, when this year is finally over and done with, would you be willing to make a strip involving the year of 2016 getting bludgeoned to death and curb-stomped? I'm in for it.

I just lost it when I heard she passed away :C
It's a sad thing too hear of her passing. She is always going to be my favorite princess for how kick ass she was.
I liked her in Blues Brothers when she whips out the RPG and the Assault rifle. But I loved her in the Burbs when she tells her neighbors that her husband can't come out to spy on the crazy people XD.
You're fortunate too have see the Star Wars films when they released. I first watched them when they were recorded on a VHS.
I didn't know she was an author, do you know what she wrote? I'd like too find them.

How poetic it is beyond the grief,
She began her legacy with an iconic character, and she ended literally with her last film reprising that iconic character.
Rest well with God and the force strongly with you, Ms Fisher.
Wonderful tribute, Rabbi. You've always done wonderful tributes.

Ohmigod, that's terribly sad. I wouldn't be surprised if hearing about her daughter's death literally broke Reynold's heart.
In the non-celebrity world, I received an Email from one of my college roommates this morning that his wife passed away a few days ago, the result of a progressive neurological disease that stole her life away a little at a time. In the Email he talked about how active she'd been in progressive social causes and how many people she'd helped get their lives together. She won't be mourned by as many people as Reynolds, Fisher or Adams, but she will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

I always liked her. The original ass kicking princess. All good tales are better with a damsel NOT in distress. She helped portray the true steel toughness of women. Along with Nichelle Nichols (Nyota Uhura), Sigourney Weaver (Ellen Ripley), Gate McFadden (Dr. Crusher) & Mirina Sirtis (Luxwana Troi) she made sci fi women super tough, just like women in real life. <3
