Warmed up tire.

Went and ran some canyons up in Malibu yesterday. Heated up my tires nicely. This is the rear tire on my CBR1100XX, a Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa.

What's a warmed up tire?

When these tires get warmed up to temperature (where they're the stickiest) they change color a bit and start to get tacky. They look like this before you get them up to temp: http://www.southbayriders.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=177607&d=1214940568

And warmed up tires hug the road better and let you hit higher speeds?

Yep, a nice warm tire is stickier and grabs on to the road better. The stickier the tire is the faster you can go around corners without sliding out. Sliding out = crashing = not fun.
