I love symbols and emblems. When it comes to propaganda and worldbuilding they can really pack a punch by representing a lot of information in a small space. They can serve a function akin to political cartoons, with small features unpacking into big meanings.
Now I originally intended to sketch a mockup so a more professional artist could draw this. But I'm broke and didn't feel like sitting on this for a long time. A few colored pencils later and this came about. Excuse the quality. I lack a scanner. The best I could do was use my tablet.
Needless to say, this is some art that fits into the Etiamsi Omnes, Ego Non universe. This emblem is the wartime emblem of Glittering Vale, a dissident Earldom of the Crystal Empire. The only one, actually. Those nobles not brainwashed by the caribou came to heel out of decadent perversity, greed or fear. Lord Pure Spring, the Earl of Glittering Vale, was not brainwashed thanks to the composition of his land and the enchanted crystals he grew at the borderland; he was not selfishly perverse; he was not greedy; and while he was afraid, he had the support of his wife and a protective drive to preserve the lives of his children. He declared his Earldom a breakaway state, but may not keep that title. As he considers the broken Cadance a pretender to the Imperial throne and Shining Armor a traitorous puppet of a hostile foreign power, he may have a legitimate claim to the title of Emperor-in-Exile. Even if his claim is proper, the population is not likely to obey him thanks to Caribou influence. At present, the legitimate governments of Equestria, The Aegeman Sea, The Grand Veldt and Griffin Kingdom preemptively support any claim he may make to the throne. In the event of a caribou defeat he would be the new ruler.
Though relatively simple, there's actually a lot going on here. At the center is the Crystal Heart, before desecration. By holding onto the pre-invasion form it maintains a connection to the old world. He green gem is taken from the seal of The United Colonies, the Diamond Dog land, where his wife Smoked Quartz came from, and which was fragmented by the caribou. Inside, the crossed hammer, pick and spade represent the industry of Glittering Vale and Dog values of physical work. The Sun and Moon show solidarity with the legitimate Equestrian government. The Claddagh form is an homage to the Griffin Kingdom, as they protect the rear border; the front-facing entrance has been allowed to get overgrown with enchanted crystal shards, high peaks protect most of the rest, and they abut a part of the Griffin Kingdom which remains loyal to the High King. The two hands represent Pure Spring and Smoked Quartz, to show the solidarity of their love and dedication to each other, in defiance of the official caribou order that almost literally declares love illegal. Down below, a scroll with the new motto of the Earldom, "Ut Incepit Fidelis Sic Permanet", "Loyal she began, loyal she remains," in reference to the old Empire and old ways. (For all you wonderful Canadians you probably recognize the motto of Ontario; the moment I saw it I knew it was perfect.) Above is the name of the place in the Diamond Dog alphabet and language. This is a new thing for me. It's not just transliterated English, I actually took a stab at making actual Dog words and grammar. Note that this is a language humans cannot speak, as it includes ultrasonic and infrasonic tones. "NuKSH(ultrasonic semi-howl)jek (infrasonic long howl rumble)(infrasonic ooo)AWłæv(infrasonic 'goop' pulse) (ultrasonic peep)(infrasonic long howl rumble) (non-rhotic)Rl IHg(vowel-like yap-bark)DTH GlIHt (non-rhotic)RIHng VEIl". Breaking that down...
NuKSH: Standard prefix meaning Not- or negation
(ultrasonic semi-howl)jek: Oppressed in a social or political way
(infrasonic long howl rumble)(infrasonic ooo)AW: Common prefix indicating a bounded area, typically meaning a designated space with calculated bounds that could be represented on a trichart, a Dog map that noted three dimensional features, essential in a subterranean environment
łæv(infrasonic 'goop' pulse): Governed or under recognized control, meaning area that is not wild land, unsounded, newly assayed, contested or The Beneath
(ultrasonic peep)(infrasonic long howl rumble): Status in a hierarchical structure of settled tiers
(non-rhotic)Rl: A transliteration of Earl (Dog has two R sounds, a standard non-rhotic Errr and a quasi-rhotic throat-based growl like regular dogs do)
IHg(vowel-like yap-bark)DTH: Designation or proper identity in a formal sense
GlIHt (non-rhotic)RIHng VEIl: Transliteration of Glittering Vale
Putting it together is literally "Not-Oppressed Bounded Area-Governed Status in Heirarchy Earl Designation Glittering Vale" and more smoothly "(The) Not-Oppressed Governed area (which is) Bounded (whose leader has a) status in the (noble) Heirarchy (which is) Earl (and whose) (proper, official) Designation (is) Glittering Vale." Why the transliteration? For Earl, they just had no local equivalent. For the name of the place I thought of it like Japanese. After western contact they borrowed words and even started using western words, even if they had local equivalents, especially in proper names or foreign terms that might have local versions, written out in Romanji or katakana.
Like I said, a lot going on there.

The (stunted) idea of invading caribou and fallen Equestria came from some super creepy dude
