Here is the second of two holiday-related 'photo-ops' - on this latest edition of "Throwback Thursday" - taken at another Scrabble Club 276 meeting in Lauderhill, Florida. (You can see the first one at https://www.furaffinity.net/view/22069612/ .)
At the meeting I'd attended on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, I got to the clubhouse early, and set up my Scrabble board for the first of three games. Part of the usual ritual among Scrabble players is to place all one-hundred lettered tiles on said board - usually in a series of 5x5 configurations (one in each corner) - just to be sure that they're all there. But, to break up the monotony, I usually place the lettered tiles on my board to spell out messages, and then count the message tiles (and the leftovers) to be sure I still had one hundred of them in total...
Since this was the last meeting before Christmas, Chanukah, and Kwanzaa began (as 2016 was one of those rare years in which all three holidays overlapped), I thought I'd convey an apropos message on my board - using the leftover tiles (not seen here) to spell out a series of five-lettered words. Since there are only two Hs and one K in my 'Tile Frequency' list (seen on most Scrabble boards), I'd used my two blank tiles (represented, in this case, by a pair of flags - one American and one British) for a third H (for Chanukah) and a second K (for Kwanzaa).
Our resident professional Scrabble champion, Ian liked the way I'd set this up, and brought it to the attention of club president Sandee Bloom - who, in turn, whipped out her digital camera and snapped a photo of me, holding up the board, holiday messages and all! (This picture will eventually end up in the next Scrabble Club 276 newsletter on the Internet, in early 2017.)
And, to everyone out there, whether you're into Scrabble or not, here's hoping that your holiday (whichever one you celebrate) is 'letter perfect'!
