It's coming to the end of 2016, and I just kind of want to look at the last three years in review.
Three years ago, it was 2013. I was finishing my freshman year of highschool and starting my sophomore year in the fall. 2013 I was still a very active member around Ongoing Worlds, a Play-By-Post roleplaying site. I began a new RPG under the genre of Sci-Fi and decided that I needed a character. I created a reptilian alien character under the name of Savis. I would begin to develop this character and really enjoy this character. He became relatively well known and was soon associated with myself. It would be a short amount of time before I would actually begin to use him as my avatar around site, since he seemed to be my most popular character. Eventually, the same character base would begin to see daylight in other games around the site, and my love for the character I've created grew. Come 2015, I've decided to take a prolonged hiatus from Roleplaying and Ongoing Worlds and officially try my hand at digital art, thanks to the inspiration from my good friend and art mentor
Krakenalamode [The Ra's Al Ghul to my Batman, yes she's tried to kill me]. Over that year and the next, I would begin to search out for blogs and ways to learn how to better my art. I would practice constantly, sometimes really hurting my grades [which I DO NOT RECOMMEND]. I honestly thought I wouldn't go very far, but 378 watchers later, and almost 500 submissions later, I feel I found my niche in the world. Art is what Im good at, and I really don't want to leave it.
The pic on the left is one of the original character images when he was still Savis, the right is three years later, my christmas promotion, post name change to Tiberius.
People ask what the secret is, there really is no secret. It's practice and dedication, and loving what you do. Find people you can talk to and learn from, if I never sought help from
Krakenalamode I never would have tried to better myself or do anything with art. I never thought that I would be able to draw the way I do today. People saw something in me and thought I could do this, that I was capable of this. I believe anyone is capable of art, capable of something great. Love what you do and find people to love it with, I know I have.
Thank you guys for an amazing year on FA, it's been a great learning experience and I'm sure as hell ready for another one! ♥
