The air outside on the street was somewhat cold as it was becoming night swiftly, three teens stood in an ally looking over the street and to a storefront that had no sign beyond a 'We are open!' the front of the store had two large display windows that had four mannequins dressed up. The first one, male was wearing a simple outfit, of just blue jeans, a thick brown hoodie and completely black featureless flesh that was so reflective the light in the display seemed brighter bouncing off it then the light by itself. Aside of it was a girl dressed in the same design and colors, though the hoodie seemed more form fitting and the pants tighter around the waist. On the other side of the door the other display had a woman mannequin in a thick dress, like something from a movie set for a ball, the dress was a dark black, with golden trim and what looked like some type of either white bead or ropes around it that looked like ivy or at least an aimless trail about the dress. Next to it was a male mannequin with a more traditional suit on, with a loosely based gold trim but lack of the white material about it.
A hand falls onto a young woman wearing a pair of black sneakers, gray worn jeans, a t-shirt with a blue denim jacket about a size or two, too big for her. The girl jumps at the touch, twisting on her heel as her blond ponytail trails behind the turn.
“Dammit, why not just say something?!” she angrily whispered to the equally young man that touched her.
“Whoa, come on you're taking this way too serious, Veronica already said she looked through, there's only one person inside the whole place.”
“I know she did, you're still trying to get me to steal, my mom's gonna kill me if I get caught!” she aptly responded back as she returned to looking at the storefront, nothing moved or changed, no one entering or leaving. The third figure waiting in the ally started to move to the two, her heels clicking against the ground with a harsh stab, either uncaring of the group waiting out of sight of most of the street, or knowing that no one else was present to hear her.
“Sam I told you no one's going to know, even if you get caught you have to run away from a single woman who doesn't even give a shit about this place.” Veronica said approaching quickly, her voice stern after many attempts to get the nervous denim clad blond to stop worrying. Sam turned around again, looking over Veronica and Tom.
Tom at the very least had the same idea that Sam did, which was wearing sneakers, and normal clothing, Tom wore a black jacket that was thick enough for the weather to be considered normal and a red bandanna if he had to hide his face. Veronica however decided that coming wearing two inch heels, a less then knee length, black skirt, torn and 'worn' black shirt, and a leather jacket almost twice her actual size was a good idea.
“Why do you always gotta wear something that makes you stand out?...” Sam asked hoping that one day Veronica would be annoyed enough to wear something not so tight to her body or something not showing off her amazing victory of genetics. Veronica's hair was always perfect pitch black, she never had split ends, she had a generous breast size, a waist that models would starve for, and hips that seemed to attract everyone. Veronica always had the chance to be popular and date anyone but never seemed interested in all the benefits of having people trip over themselves to please her. Veronica instead decided to remain friends with her two childhood neighbors that stood next to her in the ally.
“Because I want to, and I didn't really shop to help you steal, I went in earlier today, during lunch and there was only one woman in there, if that's how it is at the peak it's going to be the same or less now, if you get caught and manage to not get away let them call the cops... And you say?...” Veronica paused for Sam to speak up
“I tell them you're my.. Mom and give them your phone number...” Sam already regretted this idea by far, but her parents rarely went out for an afternoon let alone a weekend, so if they where to try anything this dumb this would be the only time to try it.
“Exactly, I'll have them bring you over to my house, and scold you, tell them it won't happen again and you don't have to worry about the cops checking in ever again.” Veronica said with a predatory smile, her hand came out and smacked Tom's arm jolting his gaze over her, and realizing that he was staring simply blushed. “Yeah, great plan!” he blurted out not paying attention to the repeated plan. Tom's involvement was rather minimal since he was mostly there to hang out with his girlfriend and Sam before everything happened.
Sam took some more deep intakes of air, stowing herself.
“I'm here to shop, I'm here to browse...”
She stepped out onto the pavement, the two figures remaining in the ally.
“Worst comes to worse I can just not take anything...”
Her head turned both ways, no headlights down either street
“They're not gonna notice some necklace missing...”
Her sneakers ground against the pavement, as she moved across the street.
“Mom would kill me if she found out...”
She nearly tripped over the curb onto the sidewalk.
“I'm just a normal person to look around...”
Her hand grasped the vertical bar and pulled.
“I can always just leave, I can't be arrested for intending to take stuff...”
She stepped into the warm brightly lit store before letting out a breath realizing that she hadn't taken a breath since leaving the ally. The door easily fell shut behind her, her head turning to see the two black silhouettes standing in the dim ally, one seeming to hit the others' side. Sam turned further to the store to see that it's clothing racks where approaching the front itself. To her left a few rows down was a woman in probably her twenties, dressed with a white t-shirt, a large blue great coat, and was wearing a pair of fox ears atop of her head. The woman looked up with blue eyes and flatly spoke.
“Welcome, if you need any assistance feel free to ask me...” she said before looking back down over a book.
The rest of the store was dead silent, no shifting of boxes, no carts moving about, though with how thin the isles where, a cart probably couldn't make it through without shoving. Sam moved forward going directly ducking a bit to look like she would be inspecting various outfits, but mostly to hide as she moved her way to the back, and opposite corner that the woman was nearby. Once Sam got deep enough to start looking around the various clothing options seemed random, most had a complete mix of things, a rack closest to her had a sundress, a leather jacket far too large for her, a traditional school girl outfit that looked like it was from japan instead of the strange perversions of someone, a pink cat mascot suit, a maternity dress, a cloak from what looked like a vampire costume, and the strangest of all them a set of shackles and chains linking them together. Sam's reaction was though muted, as her focus wasn't the oddness of the selection but to hide and find something a bit smaller to take. Veronica said along the walls, near the back, there was jewelry left completely in the open, and Sam's goal was ultimately that, to slip something that looked expensive into her jacket and get out as soon as possible.
After a few more minutes of quiet movement past odd choices of clothes to display, almost marking the place as some type of holiday themed store if it wasn't for the random inclusion of normal clothing and sometimes normal outfits, even a few looking like typical stereotypes but muted to look more normal, a 'nerd' costume had a pair of comfortable sweatpants, a thick sweater and some rather cute black glasses, rather then the expected giant pair of comical variety. Eventually Sam managed to make it to the jewelry section, the cramped isles opening up to cramped tables that had all kinds of display holders, the entire section had the look of a hastily and lazily crammed together feel about it. Cases where not straight, there was bowls that had rings resting inside them, even one of them had fallen off the table and onto the floor leaving a few scattered about. But each ring shined wonderfully in the warm light, each seemed to have been taken immaculate care of, each indent, gem, chain, fitting was perfect and looked new. Her eyes trailed about, as she thought what to take, and what Veronica would probably like hoping to pay off a favor from a long time ago. Her fingers ran over all sorts of rings, necklaces, earrings, piercing, wrist bands, chain bands, hair bands/braids. All of which in every color of metal. Eventually settling on grabbing a black 'necklace' with deep blood rubies embedded around it, the necklace however sat closer around the neck looking more like a choker or collar with how close the metal chains where placed together. Sam's pale fingers rubbed over the cool metal, her pick hopefully being enough for Veronica, with a heavy tug of air in, the choker from her hands to a pocket, sliding in with a dull flop as the denim contained the metal hitting itself. She could already hear her mother scolding her, but Sam focused on the fact that if they really cared about not being stolen from they wouldn't have bowls of expensive jewelry sitting around. Sam turned on the heels of her sneakers and started to move backwards, to head to the front of the store as she instantly bumped into something.
Sam wanted to scream in both fear of finding out something was behind her, but also because of her now active theft, her head looked up and from just above her the employee by the door stood. Sam's head turned down to look at the floor. The woman cleared her throat causing Sam to look back up, her expression without pure fear pushing through Sam looked more flat then upset or mad, the woman's hand came out, palm upwards and simply stood there.
“Y-es Miss?” Sam forced out.
“Hand it over...” she flatly replied
“I don't know what you mean...”
“You have a chance to get out of this if you don't run.”
The concept returned to Sam, sure the employee knew what she looked like now, but the town wasn't tiny, there would be other blond eight teens to make it harder to find her. Sam's heart started to pump hard as she made her choice and pushed against the woman, running past her. A clothing rack fell over behind her as Sam figured her chances increased greatly of escaping and getting out with her stolen prize. The employee didn't yell out, or even tell her to stop, there was no one else in the store to stop Sam, and it was a straight run to the door, or was until her ankle cramped up and she fell forward hitting the ground as her foot felt like it broke under the rush to escape. Her fear of being caught and her mom finding out, changing to worrying about all that atop of a medical bill. Sam clutched her leg as pain kept signaling from it, the pain telling her to take her shoe off while her mind considered that it may do more damage if she tries to take it off. There was swift stepping coming from where the jewelry was as the employee loomed over Sam.
“P-please, I'm sorry, I think I broke my foot! Please call an ambulance!”
The woman sighed softly, and crouched down over Sam, starting to go through her pockets.
“What are you doing, I broke something?!”
“I told you if you didn't run, you'd have a chance.” The employee's hand finally searched the pocket with the stolen choker and she started looking it over. Sam continued to remain on the floor, her other foot starting to painfully cramp up as well.
“Well that explains it, you're going to want to take your shoes off, or else it's going to be more painful.” she said unclasping the choker. Sam wanted to still yell for help but it probably wasn't going to come, or at least not yet, she rolled and sat upright, grasping her right shoe and yanking it off as a good deal of the pain left, letting her see that her foot under the sock was swelling, she pulled her other shoe off revealing that it to was starting to swell.
“Oh... god, what's happening, shouldn't I be screaming in pain?...” Sam asked openly
“No, but it's how we deal with thieves.”
Sam's gaze moved from her disabled feet to the woman, who had no concern or worry about the swelling that continued. Sam's mouth moved to ask something, however it was interrupted by a series of popping noises as her feet suddenly moved, swelling more and shifting to something far unnatural. Sam's mouth stayed open ready to yell in pain from the sudden and impossible movement, but there was only the odd sensation of an enjoyable stretch. The woman took a closer step to Sam, working to put the choker around her neck and in the confusion and expectation of pain and further discomfort didn't put in the effort to really stop her. The choker snapped behind Sam's neck and the woman stood up fully again.
“Wait here when you can move again, I have to do some things.” and instantly started to walk away.
“G-get help! I clearly need it!” Sam yelled out as she rolled over again and started to drag herself against the cold floor, far too worried about letting her damaged feet touch anything. Her path was at least a simple line out, but she could only pull herself so quickly. After clearing about half the store over all there was another series of pops and stretching feelings that made Sam stop to roll again and look down at her legs. They seemed horrifically swollen now, her socks bulging as the jeans looked to be tugged backwards as if her legs no longer bent straight down. Another push and stretch caused one sock to outright fail, and Sam readied to yell in horror expecting a dis formed mound of flesh to be revealed, instead however was a stripe of thick black fur. Her hands moved down, grasping her gray jeans and moving them up, the sock continued to split all the way up and as she removed it realized that her leg looked far more canine though enlarged to fit her body. With help from her hands the second sock failed as well revealing a matching pitch black hind dog leg. Her hands pressed down over the two legs as she felt her fingers poke into her legs, her hands roamed over them feeling the soft and thick fur act as the best pair of warm 'socks' she ever had. Her breath was heavy, and her mind raced with an expected series of questions and deep concerns, she had to leave, she was half way there, but there wouldn't be any way to deal with what happened to her legs, no one just 'grew' animal parts suddenly. No doctor would know what to do, or vet for that matter...
Sam sat still on the floor, the changes of her legs, the concerns for the rest of her life disabling her movement, the heat of the lights and her own panic started to make Sam feel uncomfortably warm, and realizing she'll be stuck her anyways slipped her jacket off letting it rest to her side on the floor. Her pants where slowly becoming more and more annoying, tight and restrictive. She started considering taking her pants off, but even getting down to her panties in front of a stranger, in a public, if empty, store was a prospect she didn't want to handle. Eventually Sam heard movement as her hearing twisted to behind her and something moved through her hair. Her hands shot up to grab at whatever was in her hair, however she felt two large furred 'cups' resting on her head. She felt her hands touching the cups, and the cups felt it as well, she instantly pulled on them to force the two strange furred objects off and found that it was met with pain as she tried to pull her ears off for the moment. The moment after the realization that the cups are attached to her, an object fell onto Sam's lap as the employee simply turned around and walked off leaving Sam with a pair of loose shorts. Her discomfort with the situation eventually being less then the discomfort in her legs as she started sliding off her pants.
She quietly looked over her freed legs, the black thick fur went all the way from the bottoms of her paws... to her slightly wider hips and eventually met together from each leg. Sam pulled the shorts around her paws and pulled them up hiding her panties from open viewing as she tested her legs, neither being in pain but sensitive to touch. Shakily she rose upwards, getting used to her new leg structure, her paw pads pressing against the cool floor, the smoothness being transferred to her senses while moving about. Her first few steps somewhat shaky before getting into the step and sway of how her new powerful legs functioned. A smile came over her face as she moved about, her tail starting to wag behind her for a few moments, her moving stopped to grasp behind her and feel the tail at rest due to her concern coming back.
“Ha... he... How am I even going to live with this...” she muttered out to no one, not even her friends came to help her after falling and after all this time spent. She could run now, hell she could even get there quicker then before, but now her only chance of a normal life is stuck inside this store, with the one person moving about. Going from the back to the front, and then back, while not visible Sam's ears could easily twist and follow the sounds of movement. She took to leaning against one of the racks as her arms started to develop the same black fur, that spread slowly. Her hands being covered and developing more paw pads on the undersides of them, thankfully retaining her fingers for the most part while gaining sensitive pads. The fur continued to push upwards eventually stopping at her shoulders as she felt a tensing in her arms, her new dog like parts feeling stronger then what they where before, though Sam wasn't ever really strong or such with her normal... old human parts. She continued to wait, time seeming to slow further and further down as she started to pace in circles just to have the powerful feeling of movement to focus on. On one of the passes the woman started approaching Sam again, and her ears let her be ready as the human wearing fox ears came out once again, she smiled softly.
“Oh good, you managed to stay... Now then you did try to steal something, and you'll have to work it off.” she simply stated looking a bit more involved
“Work it off?” Sam asked with some confusion until the woman pointed to her neck. “Oh right...”
“Exactly~” she stepped closer. “It's good to see you already being a good girl~”
Sam tensed ready to possibly fight or try to do something to threaten to be returned to normal, and not some partial dog creature she'd been turned into. But her ears relaxed after hearing the woman's words. “I... Uhm.... Don't want to work here...”
“I understand but you do have to work off what you tried to steal.” her hand came out and Sam went to pull backwards but stopped as the hand moved across the top of her head, grazing her ears as she took a heavy breath in. The only cure was going to be through this woman and she was stuck following these 'rules'.
“Mhr, fine I guess...” Sam muttered out again
“Good girl~” the woman came closer still petting over Sam's head a bit firmer, her touch was kind and warm, and she started to move along one of the ears on the way back up, pulling the fur upwards before going back down. Sam stumbled forward into the strange but comforting woman, her paws wrapping around her waist a bit as she relaxed.
“W-what about family and stuff?...” Sam asked with trepidation hoping that her new job wasn't going to be forever while vanishing from others. The woman simply chuckled and kept rubbing over Sam's head.
“Well we have some things to help you... blend in, and well we can easily disguise this as a part time job until you work off about ten percent of the cost of what you tried to steal.”
“Hmm... I guess it's alright... What do I do like this?” Sam asked, her tail starting to wag as the woman in the blue greatcoat kept giving her affection that didn't seem off to her.
“Well silly you're going to be a guard dog, you'll make sure no one sneaks in during the night, and no one tries to pocket or walk out with anything...”
“I, I guess that kinda makes sense, in an ironic way.” Sam said with a soft smile, the cops weren't going to come, her family wasn't going to be told she tried to steal, her legs weren't broken, and she'd have a job for a while. Her tail kept wagging happily under the Miss' touch, ears splayed out as she pressed up against her. The Miss' hands kept moving over her, one focusing around her head, while the other down an arm. Her fur was so nice, being like a perfect set of gloves hiding stronger muscles. The Miss after a while of rubbing over Sam's sensitive ears brought her around, giving her a leather jacket with the sleeves cut out to help keep herself looking intimidating for a five foot two inch teen with large black wolf limbs. The first few days flew by, as all Sam had to do was sleep in a chair near the front doors, letting her work and sleep at the same time, her trepidation surrounding her inhuman limbs slowly wore off as she got used to being ordered about and petted over, when the time came that she paid off the cost of the choker around her neck, she decided to switch to full time always managing to catch a rare thief, her tail excitedly wagging every time they ran as it was more of a game then a desperate struggle to stop some mundane people.
