Pique, like many Furries in the world (at least in my universe XD) grows a winter coat during the winter season starting around late November early December, and is a fragment of their ancient ancestors. His fur goes white and grey and gets longer, thicker and fluffier. Unfortunately, his brother, mother and Charlie Bear aren't so lucky. Since they have the fur disorder Heterochromia Dipigmintitis--a fictional disorder that causes their fur to develop slower, shorter and in unnatural colors--they can't grow winter coats as its an additional side effect of the disorder. Oh well, at least they don't have to worry about "the sheds" when spring rolls around. XD
